Fergal O’Donnell is set to take charge of the Mountbellew-Moylough senior footballers in 2025.

The former Roscommon captain and two-time manager replaces club and county legend Val Daly who, ironically, also managed the Rossies almost 30 years ago. Last crowned Galway SFC winners in 2021, Mountbellew-Moylough exited the Frank Fox Cup race at the preliminary quarter-final stage last year following defeat to Tuam Stars. The east Galway club have won five Galway SFC titles in total.

The much-travelled O’Donnell guided Roscommon to All-Ireland MFC and Connacht SFC glory in 2006 and ’10 respectively before steering Tourlestrane to their seventh successive Sligo SFC title in 2022. He managed the Frenchpark-based Western Gaels before that.
