A win in a hyrox event in Co. Meath on Sunday morning helped Luke Loughlin to get over the disappointment of Westmeath’s narrow Leinster SFC quarter-final defeat to Kildare the night before.
The Downs sharpshooter scored 0-11 in a superb individual display, but still finished on the losing side in Newbridge. But he picked himself up quickly to partner Feargal Tiernan to victory at the Caolan Cole Fitness Hyrox-Sim in Kells. Hyrox is a global fitness race that combines running and functional workouts in a timed competition.
“Male Winners Of @caolancolefitness Hyrox-Sim in Kells this morning !!! Great event and so well organised !! Delighted I signed up last minute !!!” Loughlin posted on Instagram.
“You can only imagine how sorry I was feeling for myself after the game last night and chasing after my ‘partner’ @fearghaltiernanpt Not great preparation but sometimes you just have to challenge yourself and get after it !!!”
