Kilcormac/Killoughey and Castletown-Geoghegan served up a brilliant Leinster club SHC semi-final in TEG Cusack Park yesterday, but the midlands derby wasn’t without controversy.
In a game of fine margins, a blatant officiating error in the 38th minute could have had serious consequences were it not for Adam Screeney’s injury-time goal which handed Kilcormac/Killoughey a dramatic 2-13 to 1-13 victory. Castletown midfield dynamo Peter Clarke sent a sideline cut between the posts but, much to the Westmeath champions’ dismay, it was waved wide.
