The 2025 Down senior football championship commences this evening (Thursday) with the meeting of Glenn and Ballyholland.
The Frank O'Hare Cup opener takes places in Burren at 7.15pm and marks the first of eight SFC fixtures to come in the Mourne County over the next five days, with defending champions Kilcoo out on Monday evening.
Tomorrow evening sees Loughinisland meeting Downpatrick in Teconnaught and Castlewellan up against the runners-up from the past two years Burren in Mayobridge (both games throw in at 7.15pm).
On Saturday, Saul face Carryduff in Downpatrick (3pm) before Clonduff play Liatroim in Castlewellan (5.30pm), while Sunday sees Mayobridge and Drumgath set to battle it out in Clonduff (3.30pm) prior to 2022 beaten finalists Warrenpoint clashing with Bredagh in Kilcoo (6pm).
Monday evening’s sole encounter will see 4/7 competition favourites Kilcoo start their bid for a seventh consecutive county senior title when they play Bryansford in Liatroim at 7.30pm.
