Gavin Devlin has been appointed as the new Louth senior football manager on a three-year term.

The 2003 Tyrone All-Ireland SFC winning centre back replaces Ger Brennan, who stepped down after leading the Wee County to their first Leinster SFC title since 1957 earlier this summer. Peter Dooley, who was part of the outgoing management, has been named as assistant manager.

It's Devlin's first time to take sole charge of an inter-county team, having previously been Mickey Harte’s right-hand man in Tyrone, Louth and Derry. Ironically, the two will be in opposite corners in next year's Allianz League when Louth and Harte's newly-promoted Offaly face off in Division 2.

After the pair left Derry last year, they went their separate ways, with Devlin taking on a role of underage football development co-ordinator in Louth. The remainder of the Ardboe man's backroom team is set to be confirmed shortly.
