The draws took place for the 2025 Longford GAA Championships on Monday night and were notable for the fact that the JFC ‘A’ contains just one sole junior football club.

Legan Sarsfields will be joined by second strings from Carrickedmond, Clonguish, Colmcille, Killoe Emmet Óg and Longford Slashers. The Longford JFC ‘A’ was once dominated by junior clubs, but Legan are now ploughing a lone furrow which raises questions about the integrity of the championship.

The SFC draw has pitted Connolly Cup holders Abbeylara against last year’s intermediate winners Fr Manning Gaels in Round 1. Last year’s runner-up Colmcille open against Carrickedmond, while Division 1 League leaders Clonguish will meet neighbours Longford Slashers in the first round for the third year running.
