Roscommon boss Davy Burke said he was delighted with the character his team showed to get over the line against Louth yesterday.
Despite conceded a late goal in Drogheda, the Rossies came away with a 1-17 to 1-15 victory that marks two wins from two outings in Division 2 thus far.
Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, Burke said that the game is never over now with the new rules that are in place.
"We're delighted to have four points on the board after two rounds. To win away from home is very difficult because if you look at the last two weeks in every division the home teams are winning.
“We set out to win today, to go away today and be competitive. There is a caveat: Louth were light today. Craig Lennon went off after two or three minutes so we're not getting carried way but it's an important two points at the same time.
"I'm delighted with the character our lads showed. We were eight points up with four or five minutes to go but the game is never over in this new game. You are not emptying the bench any more to give lads a run, you are emptying the bench to get a kick out of them.
“Ultimately you need one or two more scores because it is so easy with the two-pointers. Look we're delighted to get out of here."
