Cillian Fahy has been appointed as Limerick’s new senior football captain.

The Dromcollogher/Broadford clubman, who takes over from long-time captain Iain Corbett, will be assisted by vice-captains Tommie Childs (Galtee Gaels) and Barry Coleman (Rathkeale).

Paying tribute to outgoing skipper Corbett, Limerick football committee chairperson Wayne Fitzgerald said: “Today I want to honour a leader, a teammate, and a true inspiration - Iain Corbett. For years, Iain has been the heartbeat of the Limerick senior football team, as captain guiding us through triumphs and challenges with unwavering dedication, unmatched passion, and a commitment to excellence that has inspired us all.

“From the first whistle to the final moments of every game, Iain has led not just with words, but with actions. On the pitch, his determination and skill set the standard, showing us what it means to give everything for the Limerick jersey.

“Through Iain leadership, we’ve learned the importance of resilience in the face of defeat, the power of unity in moments of doubt, and the joy of celebrating victories together. His presence has been more than just a captain, it has been a cornerstone of Limerick footballs identity.

“I want to thank Iain for his years as captain of the Limerick senior football team and we are all delighted to hear that he will continue to wear the Limerick jersey in the years ahead.

“I want to congratulate Cillian Fahy as captain and Barry Coleman and Tommie Childs as vice captains of the Limerick senior football team and wish them the very best in their new roles."
