Rising Kerry football star Cillian Burke has joined AFL outfit Geelong.
In what is a major blow to the Kingdom, the Milltown clubman has signed as a Category B rookie with the Cats who already have fellow Kerry man Mark O'Connor and Mayo's Oisín Mullen on their books. The 21-year-old will move Down Under next month after enjoying an impressive breakthrough season with Jack O'Connor's side.
“Cillian is a very athletic and a talented prospect, we are thrilled he has decided to join Geelong and can’t wait to welcome him to Australia next month,” Geelong General Manager, Football Andrew Mackie told the Cats’ website.
“A very established GAA player, we understand Cillian has made a big life decision to move to Australia. We will support him and have a plan in place to make a smooth transition to the Cats and our football program.”
