Steven Poacher is remaining on as Leitrim senior football manager for two more seasons.

Having succeeded Mickey Graham at the eleventh hour, the Down man endured a difficult first year in charge due to his late appointment as Leitrim were relegated to Division Four of the national football league.

Performances improved in the summer and the Green & Gold ended the year on something of a high when defeating Tipperary in their final Tailteann Cup outing – their first and only victory of 2025.

Leitrim’s county executive confirmed in a statement: “Leitrim GAA confirms approval for the reappointment of Steven Poacher as senior football manager on a two-year term, subject to ratification at the next meeting of Leitrim GAA County Committee on September 8th.”

They added that Danny Beck and Ciaran Kennedy were staying on for a further two years as joint minor managers, while Barry McWeeney declined the offer of a two-year extension as county U20 manager.
