Billy Lee has stepped down as manager of Kerry football giants Austin Stacks.
The Tralee club has paid tribute to the former Limerick manager after he led them back to the senior ranks following last year’s county IFC final replay victory over Laune Rangers. Lee, who intends spending more time with his family as he approaches his 60th birthday, subsequently guided Stacks to a Munster club IFC title.
“On behalf of the Austin Stacks GAA Club we extend our deepest gratitude to Billy Lee, David Lavin and Mikey Collins for their outstanding management and coaching of our senior team throughout 2023 and 2024,” acting club chairman Eamonn O’Reilly said in a Facebook post.
“Billy's leadership, commitment and passion for the team and the club as a whole was nothing short of exceptional, and in bringing his deep experience and knowledge of the game, he led the team to success in winning the Kerry and Munster 2024 Intermediate Football Championships, as well as Division 2 of the county league and the Tralee/St Brendan’s Senior Football Championship.
“So go raibh míle maith to Billy, David and Mikey for everything they have done for the club and our players, and wish each of them every good wish in the future.”
