Oisín McGorman defied the odds by playing on for 50 minutes and even scoring a goal after suffering a fractured jaw in the early stages of Monaghan's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Louth last Sunday.

The Latton clubman sustained the injury after being on the receiving end of a high shoulder from Sean Callaghan, which resulted in the Louth midfielder being sent off in the seventh minute.

McGorman was assessed for concussion after the incident and was given the green light to continue before being replaced in the 55th minute of the Farney County's 2-18 to 0-27 loss at Croke Park.
