Ger Brennan was already looking forward to Dublin's mouth-watering All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Kerry after they continued their recent revival by taking out a fancied Galway.
After losing the Leinster final to Westemath and their All-Ireland SFC Round 1 opener to Louth, the Dubs have turned their season around with massive Croke Park wins over Donegal and Galway in the past week.
“That performance and win is a credit to all those guys. We’re delighted to be in the draw," the Dublin manager enthused after his side came from six points down in the final quarter to win by four.
“We knew we couldn’t face Louth, and well done to Louth on a fine win over Monaghan too, with a man down for the majority of the game.
“There’s probably aspects of our performance today that we’ll have to tidy up on going into the semi-final. Kerry are defending champions and have found a run of form.
“They were quite dominant in Killarney a couple of weeks ago against Armagh, and they’ve certainly pushed on since then.
“I would have watched the Tyrone game on TV and it was a fine game of football, Tyrone just kept pushing. I guess Kerry’s experience and know-how got them over the line going down the home stretch.”
Brennan also singled out Con O'Callaghan for special praise, describing him as a 'warrior' after he made light of an ongoing hamstring issue to score 1-7.
“Con is a warrior. We chatted about how he felt after the match last week and he said he was fine. He trained away during the week. I don’t know whether he finished with 1-7 or whatever it was in the end," he continued.
“If I told you the truth about a lot of fellas — it’s probably the same for a lot of managers — most lads are doing their best to get on to the field of play. There’s 39 fellas in the panel and a few fellas with long-term injuries. But the amount of work that went in behind-the-scenes over the last seven days was second to none."
