Dooher hails grief-stricken Devlin

Tyrone joint-manager Brian Dooher singled out Niall Devlin for special praise after Saturday night’s victory over Monaghan.

The 2022 All-Ireland U20FC winning captain played the whole game in Healy Park less than a fortnight after his older brother Caolan was killed in a car crash on the Curr Road section of the A5 between Omagh and Ballygawley. Poignantly, a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to the 30-year-old before the throw-in.

“It has been tough and you saw Niall Devlin out there today and the performance he had,” Dooher said an interview with TG4.

“That’s testament to the character of him and his family. What they’ve been through... to come out here today, hopefully the players and supporters have given them a lot of support. We are very thankful for that as a team.”
