Stephen Cluxton has made a shock return to the Dublin senior football squad after being named on the bench for today’s Allianz League seventh round clash against Louth at Croke Park.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner has not played for the capital men since their 2020 victory over Mayo in the Sam Maguire Cup decider in December of that year.

While the Parnells clubman had never officially announced his retirement, it was thought that his inter-county days were over having not featured for the Dubs over the past two seasons.

However, the 41-year-old was named by manager Dessie Farrell as a late change on his substitutes' bench ahead of today’s Croker clash which will look to see the Leinster champions cement an immediate return back to Division 1.
