Cannot agree with you there. Most all neutrals I spoke to agreed with myself that the better team won. Rathnure had not faced a team like St.Martins all year and their mistakes at the back plus the few extra wides were because of the pressure they were under. Also St.Martins could / should have had 2 goals in the 1st half when Rathnure had no gaol chance in that 1st half.

Take Barry oconnor out of that martins team rathnure would have won that game. Im neither martins or rathnure. Neutral..

He was the main driving force in attack in the last quarter, though I thought Jacko scored an important point under pressure also. Darren Codd wasn't bad either. Rory had an off day, was even poor on the frees.
For some bizarre reason, maybe worried about Rathnures goal threat and being against the wind, they played David Codd really deep, too deep, as a sweeper in the 1st half, and he hardly pucked a ball. Waste of 1 of their better hurlers.

The best team won alright and I think Wexford hurling is the winner.

Rathnure, who are key to historical success have responded incredibly. That 24 months could be huge for Wexford in the near future. What a club, and I'm sure they'll have their Day again.

Martin's on the other hand, we probably the second best team in the country last year's. The fact they got such a badly needed test yesterday could be huge for them.

I don't know if any of ye heard Rossi speak on the radio yesterday, but I'm excited for the county to get going again now after such a flat 2025.

Actually rathnure played martins in league final and easy win for martins

St Martins play Na Fianna in two weeks in Wexford Park in the Leinster q-final.

Na Fianna were lucky to beat a Lucan Sarsfields team in the final at the weekend.

Na Fianna as All Ireland champions will be favourites but if Martins could sneak a win here, they then have another home fixture in Wexford Park for the semi final against either Naas or Mount Leinster Rangers.

They will need Rory O'Connor at his absolute best to beat Na Fianna.

Absolutely they will, but hopefully he will rise to the occasion. I think it being in the Park might be worth a few points to Martins, but whether that will be enough for them to win I don't know. Na Fianna haven't looked unbeatable this year either apparently. Whoever wins will have a decent chance to win Leinster, although I wouldn't write off any of the teams in it altogether.

The martins have some rally good players and great exsperience. But there was times there yesterday that they were vulnerable and there for the taking.

Congrats to the Martins and the very best of luck in Leinster.
Probably not bad, Rory being held yesterday... I'd say he'll be bulling to put that right the next day!

Any players not already in the county setup stand out in the club championship?

Second best team in the country is a bold statement my friend. They beat Naas and then got beat by the eventual champions. I'm sure there's plenty of teams in Munster, Connaught and even Ulster that would dispute that statement. We'll see how good they really are over the next little while because our championship is a fairly poor barometer to judge.

Well fair play to you Doyler, not letting the side down. If Wexford were as consistent on the pitch as you are with your optimism on the year ahead we would be all set.

He said Shane Keegan will be in the stand pretty much all the time to assist with tactical decisions that you can't always see from the sideline. He referenced learnings from Dublin and Galway games for this decision.

He said we're doing a lot right but obviously need fine tuning and he's confident the lads will have learned a lot.

He also mentioned an ongoing conversation with paudie Foley.....

Thanks for that Doylerwex some interesting points. Interesting to hear about Paudie . Was it 2022 his last game the All Ireland quarter final? How did he hurl in the Club Championship this year. Would like to see Oisin involved too if fully fit. Was listening to the Wexford hurling podcast this morning. Barry O Connor confirmed he expects to return to Australia in January. Fair play to him he has a life out there too . He said he would love to hurl for Wexford at some stage so who knows maybe in the future. Hopefully his cousin Rory decides to stay. Still think we have a team good enough to get to a Leinster final if we can find consistency . Hopefully the new additions to the backroom team can help the lads find the consistency we need

That's the thing isn't it? There's nothing in our recent for that says we should be winning trophies but on the other hand Leinster looks very winnable if a few things go right. Dublin are good but beatable. Kilkenny are Kilkenny. They'll just keep going but by their own standards they're in a bit of a crisis. Offaly will have closed the gap a bit and Galway are a bit like is in terms of high ceiling and low floor, although they're better equipped than we are to put a run togetherness.

In terms of ambition for 26 here's what I'd like to see:

1. A clear tactical plan. We had it in 24, but looked a bit lost last year.

2. More conviction on the line. Rossiter seems to be aware of this and is trying to fix it.

3. A settled team.

If we get those things right I think we should be in the mix for promotion in the league and top 3 in Leinster for sure.

It's going to be a hectic season though. We'll need to hit the ground running and will need results early.

If I had to choose this year, I think we really need to get back to 1A, considering our current group should peak in 2-3 years.
