Replying To Seanfanbocht:  "That keeping players up has always been the simplistic answer to how do you combat the blanket defence.
But how can it work in practice?
Say I score a point from round the 20 is it disallowed if only one colleague in the opponents half?
Does the goalie count as one of the 3 back or is it 3 plus goalie?"
The goalie isn't included as one of the 3 but he can't receive a pass in his own half unless he is in his own 20 meters line and the players that passed is also without the 20 metre line.

The proposals are explained well on RTE website. Here's the link. Read this and then comment.

6:00 PM next Friday is not ideal if you're not from fairly close to Dublin. But ticket prices are decent. €15 for two games on Friday plus two more on Saturday and €5 for juveniles.

That's sounds great, be some craic seeing this implemented in club football, the current rules are confusing enough.
we should get rid of the forward mark for a start.

These experimental rules games should be free admission.. the GAA should be trying to sell these changes not trying to make a quick buck…anybody paying in to see this rubbish would need to have their head examined …

FB you love giving out! You're not happy with the standard of football but you're not happy that they are, at least, trying to improve the standard.

Giving out and whinging is his default setting. Unfortunately, playing into the Cavan stereotype, by objecting to entry to four matches being as cheap as €15. Probably at the same time bemoaning the demise of the interprovincials while here is an opportunity to see them again.

It is now or never for the 7 enhancement rules. One half of a field currently empty. Keepers walking up the field in possession with noone looking to challenge. Terrible stuff currently. Only those with their heads stuck in the sand are against the proposed improvements.

What they are proposing to do is not going to improve the standard one bit…. These are rules trial games and there should be no entrance fee whatsoever…. Only a complete idiot would pay in to see this makey up game…. All they had to do was get rid of the forward mark , the black card and reintroduce replays instead of extra time on the day..…games simply shouldn't be finished with a penalty shootout…. but the GAA would never admit to getting anything wrong….!

Yea thats all they had to do. As if. The game needs to be quicker . The crowds are down. The players and managers who have competed in the sandbox games have enjoyed it.

I can't for the life of me see how referees at junior level without any help are going to try and implement all these new rules… not possible.. As for players and managers enjoying playing in the sand…? Don't be fooled into that nonsense…

You must have been speaking to them.. why wouldn't a forward enjoy more space with 3 v 3 or banning kicking back to the keeper so play can go forwaed. No short kick outs so no lateral hand passing close to goal

I'm willing to give some of these rules a go,it will surely improve some of the football that is being played..I can see a big problem with kick outs especially if there is a gale blowing..I'm sorry they aren't using the 65 to keep players inside..I'll watch games next week with interest..can see problems for refs during club league games when they are the only official..
