FG ran no incumbent TD in 26 of the 43 constituencies. It's a pretty good result for them in that context.....renewal blah blah blah.

I agree with that. I can never understand turnout being so low.

My point is the two main parties are deliberately excluding them and I believe that is true. It shows an enormous amount of contempt for a considerable percentage of our population who are desperate for somebody to think outside the box.

I personally am not moaning either. 3 of the 4 I voted for got over the line in my own constituency.

Incidentally I won't vote for Fianna fail out of principle, but I do quite like James Brown.

I wonder would more of the electorate vote if the election was held on a Saturday??think last ge was a Saturday..it would mean all younger people in college would have no excuse as they'd make it back home no problem..

SF are the party few want to deal with. But SF will never do well in a low turn out, and SF have done well seats wise due to good vote management. 40% or so did not vote a huge proportion of young people. But this pretending to be outraged? why would anyone not be outraged? at Scoliosis, High Rents, unaffordable housing, homelessness, vacant and dereliction, social dysfunction, and depravation? We are richer than ever yet have little to show for it. Also Parts of the country have been returning FF/FG for decades its like they living in 1850 not 21st century. And also parts of Dublin the more afluent area's of South/South East Dublin have voted similarly to parts of Rural Ireland. The problems are not SF's, the problems are still with us and I think less tolerence of Govt policies are going to grow, FF/FG's voting share is shriking with the age profile of their voters. They need to merge to survive ultimately. But I do not see outrage from SF more jubliation at least in the RDS count centre when I was there.

Pope I put that up just to see what people would think..it is up to everyone to do what they can to vote but as I said if people complain over next few weeks about having same people back,ask them if they voted,if no is the answer then argument is over straight away.we have to live now with what we get..

A lot to be said for 'Rural Ireland' voting with stability. The Dubs are neurotic voters. Greens in, greens out. Labour in, Labour out. FF out, FF back in. High on SF, cooled off on SF. Make yer minds up once in a while.
