Just to wish James McCarthy well on his retirement, a sad day for lovers of Gaelic football, he was a fantastic player for Dublin and brilliant to watch always. Some record of medals and silverware he has won. Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3029 - 04/11/2024 14:14:38 2578333 Link 2 |
Incredible player. I certainly won't miss seeing him as an opponent with the Dubs but without doubt one of the best to ever do it. Not many if any had his combination of pace, power, strength, determination and engine. Big loss to the Dubs but what a player for ye. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2813 - 04/11/2024 14:58:52 2578338 Link 3 |

Great player, Think Kickham's tame exit from SFC was the last stand for Jamsie. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3118 - 04/11/2024 15:19:36 2578349 Link 3 |
Best of luck to James Mc Carthy on his retirement, brilliant footballer and never sought the limelight. I always got the feeling that James was at his best when the game was in the melting pot. tireoghainabu (Tyrone) - Posts: 338 - 04/11/2024 15:42:06 2578352 Link 2 |
My favourite player of all time without a shadow of a doubt. As you say a class act and a guy that is irreplaceable for the Dubs but he can sit back now and savour a truly incredible career. One great bows out and one comes back in your own county.. .can Murphy make a big impact this year?? TrueBlue35 (Dublin) - Posts: 211 - 04/11/2024 16:16:10 2578360 Link 1 |
Ha ha where you getting your intel from? Rumours were rife last year too but didn't happen. If he does it will be massive even to have him as an impact player. Retired too soon for most but then you couldn't blame him with the **** show going on off the pitch.

James McCarthy - what a Legend he has been for Dublin GAA. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3975 - 04/11/2024 17:14:15 2578371 Link 1 |
I don't know about Murphy, the rumours are strong and we would all love to see him give it another go especially if the new 3 up rule comes in because it would suit him so well.

Best of luck to Janes McCarthy in his retirement.A truly fantastic player who gave his all.Whether as a half back or a midfielder he was a joy to watch.A player I hated seeing on the teamsheet when they were playing Kerry. He had everything.A great fielder a great thinker speed to burn and endless stamina.Tough as nails and a never say die attitude. An example to all young players.Enjoy your retirement James. I like what you did there Jimbo.... ;o) Hopefully BK get another couple of seasons out of Jamesie. He was clearly gutted after the defeat to Cuala a few weeks ago. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 3975 - 05/11/2024 13:42:07 2578455 Link 1 |
I'd say he is. I doubt he is someone would be satisfied with playing below his best and even in club championship he was not the power house he once was. Which was big factor in Kickham's tame enough departure. A side that needs a major rejuvenation all round.

Cheers for the reply.Big loss for his club never mind Dublin if that's the case. You would imagine he would be well able to go for another few years at club level but I suppose he might have had his fill of oit over the years.

Very good. Happy to stand corrected. He would be bigger loss to them than to Dublin. Not been great underage last while.
