JmcG had his ass handed to him in the AI Final. Slightly over hyped as a manager imo. Sorry Donegal fans. And I am not the only one who thinks it, apparently. Jack gave him a lesson in tactics, and never needed to hit top gear at all in the Final. The A.I. winner was always gonna come from the Kerry v Armagh game and look how Armagh fared in that encounter. I think a lot of managers and squads are going to have to go back to the drawing board for next season if they wish to get anywhere near Jack's team. Otherwise it will be a procession. As for Dublin the best we can hope for will be Leinster. I reckon we could get relegated in order to get it right for the Leinster campaign tbh. Interesting that it was in the second half that Donegal took over against both Monaghan and Meath. More was needed in the Final and McGuinness was out thought by Jack O'Connor as he had been out thought by Eamon Fitzmaurice in the 2014 Final. I wouldn't rule Dublin out of anything next year. A new management will freshen things up and I doubt Dublin will be far off. Their panel will actually be stronger next year assuming no injury crisis. Diarmuid O'Connor is their best midfielder. Tom Sullivan one of their best backs. Paul Geaney was flying before his injury. Obviously no guarantees they'll win though. Back-to-backs notoriously difficult. Only two teams have done it in 35 years. Hunger and motivation normally drops a little and that's enough to tip the balance against the stronger counties. Jack leaving would create uncertainty also as there's no obvious replacement. Well we need something new because apparently and according to our last manager, we don't have a single player in our entire squad who is able to kick 2 pointers.... Don't get me started again on that crazy comment,.... If Galway had a different manager, I think they could be challenging for Sam tbh. But one team is quite a bit ahead of the chasing pack and they have players to come back into that team also. 3 Provinces will be competitive next season and it is good that Leinster is, once again. Four teams have done it in less than 40 years...which averages out at about a back-to-back a decade. Back to backs are a doddle, sure didn't Dublin do 5 back to backs in a row between 2016 to 2020. If this Kerry team are as good as people are saying it shouldn't be an issue to do at least one should it? After all, don't they have the so called goat who's been milked to death at this stage! (2nd half was 1-9 to 0-9 and the goal was the last score of the game) All-Ireland semi-finalists All-Ireland winners All-Ireland Quarter finalists All-Ireland finalists All-Ireland semi-finalists All-Ireland finalists Is his record as Donegal manager and Donegal in their history without him reached one All-Ireland final back in 1992. To get them back in this year final after they were a mess in 2023 is still some going. Armagh had issues defensively and kick outs which Kerry could exploit to the max with these new rules. Things will become more open for 2026 shoud Kerry lose Jack O'Connor. Agreed on Dublin, new manager should target Leinster. Main contenders are Louth,Meath and maybe Kildare all Div 2 teams next year and will any of three gain promotion before Derry,Tyrone? We'll agree that it's difficult to do. Lots of very good teams in those 35 years couldn't do it. Kerry will be highly motivated though I think. Winning the 40th I think will be a big deal in Kerry. Would be really happy with this appointment and good to see things won't be dragging on into the Autumn without a new man in. Looking forward to hearing a new voice and seeing new ideas brought to the table. I know the rest of the country had a pain in their backsides seeing Dublin at the top for so long but I for one am gasping to see us back competing in finals. And probably the sweetest of them all 2 years ago. If we don't win it for a while, I just hope Mayo get over the line finally. Failing that, hopefully someone new can win it, eg Galway or Derry or Donegal. And similarly in the Hurling. It would be nice for someone new to win it. As for the new Dubs manager - he has a hell of a job in front of him.... But hearing the backroom team assembled - he hopefully has the right men behind him.
