The only thing that made that game close was Kildare put 18 balls wide. There was a decent comeback by us, with a breeze behind us in the 2nd half but in the end Kildare fell over the line. Really though Kildare should have been home and hosed by halftime. If that was Carlow, Kerry or someone else with no fear of us that we were playing today, they'd have completely buried us before halftime and battered us into the ground after the break. We were lucky to even have an achievable scoreline to chase. Doyle's freetaking and a few nice scores in the forwards forwards kept us in it. Kildare's forwards and midfield ate us without salt under the high ball and dominated possession. We were living off scraps.

The only silver lining is Down also got annihilated today by Laois and with home advantage you'd think we should take it. Seeing how this team has been going all year though with whatever soap opera is going on behind the scenes, I still wouldn't say with certainty we will win that game either. There's a week break now ahead and that next game is going to be do or die.

Great win for the minors, they topped the group so they get the easier team from the other tier two group (Carlow I think) . Hopefully Dillon Burke is back , they missed him today in the first half especially. Forwards didn't even really click but they're all so dangerous they can turn it on in moments and win games like today. Williams quietish and still buried a cheeky 21 yard free and nailed the frees. Podge and Finn probably our best today.

If this team clicks they can definitely get to the Leinster semi final. Hopefully the county gets behind them. We just beat Offaly who are on the crest of a wave.

Sorry but some on players obviously but bulfin has to take a lot blame here and county board now it's about surviving but notice there no great strategy and start games slow then hope for best after that won't win games.

Not all on on him but a lot of it is and sorry but no confidence in him at all and unfortunately I think beating down is no guarantee .

I'd like to be a fly on the wall at the next county board meeting with club representatives if the performances of the seniors are discussed. I'd imagine there will be quite some "well I hate to say I told you so"
The club delegates seem justified in their criticism of the appointment. Perhaps the board should listen to the hurling men in this county who know hurling. Should voting on football & hurling mgmt teams be restricted to delegates who have a club in that specific code going forward?

Definitely, I think only hurling club delegates should have a say on who is made manager. The few hurling clubs who were opposed to this appointment have been proven right in the end.
Hopefully the minors can keep driving it on now, they didn't play their best hurling, minus captain Dillon Burke and some of the top players having an quiet day they still had enough to get past Offaly yesterday and as a poster previously said the quality of some of our forwards to just be able to switch it on in moments has been matching winning . We just need to get as close to a 60/65 minute performance as we can get going forward now. Conor Williams by his own standards was quiet yesterday yet contributed brilliantly from placed balls including a rocket of a goal. I was impressed with Cian Fleming at centre back, big presence, Ted Aherne at full back did well on Offaly's main man Fletcher. McCauley and McKeogh were very good especially with the driving runs through the Offaly defence and Padraig Monaghan at full forward was excellent. Finn Higgins has to start next weekend too. 4 wins from 4 and going into the game at home against Carlow next weekend with confidence, hopefully supporters come out and get behind them as they might give us something to shout about despite what's happening at senior level!
