Its impossible to run the ball for seventy minutes and expect to keep it going all year. We looked a spent force yesterday. Watching kerry and donegal theres a huge difference kerry like kicking early ball into there forwards. I know they have david Clifford and the geaneys to hit but under the present rules well never win an all Ireland if we don't change the way we play. We have talented forwards who are well able to win there own ball. I've been saying it for years that we're still lacking physical defenders who can defend. I got shot down a few times for saying this. The dublin forwards caused us huge problems yesterday. I hope jim stays on but he needs a good assistant.
Replying To User93: "Very disappointing result yesterday. It felt similar to last week against Cork were our legs were gone and we were lacking rhythm in our play. Even when we got the goal and a few points and went 5 up, we didn't build on it. Something similar happened last week were we went ahead by 7 against Cork but didn't build on it too. Something just didn't feel right but the lads tried their hardest and it took a lot to even pull it back level at full time. Dublin were deserving of their win at the end and it will be interesting to see them against Galway next week. I think we looked like a team that was training really hard but it was similar vibe this year to 2013 as many have mentioned. Hopefully we can bounce back next year.
What really shocked me yesterday and for the last while is the hatred for Donegal and particularly Murphy and McGuinness. Murphy was booed again and nearly as bad as Killarney. This I feel has no place in the game. I spoke to a Dublin supporter after the game and they said he was fully deserving of it after the League final. I said to them, do you think Michael Burns will be booed by Donegal and opposition fans once he serves his suspension? Similarly Kelly for Armagh wasn't subjected to anything like this after serving a suspension for a very serious incident. Also some of the stuff on Twitter was shocking and people calling him some horrible remarks which is way over the top. The GAA made a tribute post to him for his 200th appearance and it was littered with disgusting comments. I have watched Murphy since his debut at 17 and he has been a pleasure to watch. He plays with an edge but he does not have this dirty streak to his game that people are saying that he is been at for years supposedly. This year i do feel he has been more aggressive and did it take it too far in the league final but again it is literally the only significant incident in his career that people can cite. He has been a legend of the game and is contributed so much to Donegal and it turns my stomach to see the abuse he is receiving. Furthermore, everyone in the county or anyone knows him on a personal level are aware of the incredible person he is and let's hope he has another year in the Donegal jersey. Also I hope this new soccer culture coming into the GAA and social media abuse doesn't creep more into the game.."
Here's a tip for you - Stay away from Twitter, X or whatever they call it these days. It's a cesspit for nameless trolls. Any decent GAA people wouldn't engage in that sort of thing.
Replying To monaghanmad: "Will Michael Murphy come back next year? We will make a deal, if he comes back next year, we will take back mc manus, oh wait, we have moved on."
Don't see why Murphy wouldn't come back, when younger players were going down with cramp yesterday and getting substituted because they were tired, Murphy was still going. He's been injury free all year and played in all our championship games, arguably our best player in most games.

Shur he's been coaching for years. He's hardly fresh out of the box now in fairness. It wouldn't look like there's a long list of other internal options when ye went back to Jimmy.

For years? Like what? Maybe 3? One good year in a much weaker province with less expectation doesn't justify the big job right now. I personally don't think he would be a good fit managing this current donegal team. It's not happening anyway.
Most posts in here are about the abuse Murphy and McGuinness are getting instead of thr actual game or plan for 2027. Murphy has been asking for trouble especially how he's played since she's came back. Jim has some to complain about even after we win games. If you're in the public eye, deal with it.
Regarding the actual game and squad. How can Jim and anyone in here say we gassed out because we're playing games back to back? We played what 11 championship games last year mostly back to back and we looked fine until the final. Such a lazy excuse. We looked poor against down when we were fresh enough and now we can safely say we only battered Kerry in Killarney due to the red card and then likely not taking it seriously. If we played them on Sunday we would have lost by 15+.
Hugh will likely retire but small odds, we need to move on from him. Ryan will give it another go I think but he's 33 I believe or at least will be come next season. Murphy can come back at 37/38 if he wants but he's should only be a sub. Thompson was a big miss sure but he's also 32 I believe. After doing his ACL, how much use will he be?
We need to get Niall OD back and tbh he has a chance to start considering how hit or miss Gallen and COD can be.
Langan and McGee were both phenomenal this year I thought. They deserved so much better from everyone else.
I just don't know who's going to fill up the bench to help in 2027. We don't have the players in the county. It's in midfield and forward line that needs way better options of the bench. Defence will always sort itself. I know we have a small bunch of young attackers from Aodh Rua and Four Masters coming through but they didn't get much time this year, are they truly the future? Max and Shay had good first years but they need to bulk up.
as people have said time and time again we really need a left foot free taker. Do we have any options around the county?
For goals , we need Patton. His kickouts are aimed to players whereas Gavin is just hit and hope. About 3 times in a row yesterday he aimed for his left hand side and it went out of play or safely into the hands of a dub. Not to mention his poor kickout changed the game. But fair enough, most keepers make mistakes in the new game. He's better to have on if we are a team that get a lot of frees like say a Monaghan but the way we play we don't get scoreable frees as often as I'd like.
I'd like to believe we can win it next year but unless we strengthen our bench and the inconsistent forwards cop on, We won't. However if Jim is back then I'll believe he believes we have a chance at least.
Very unusual for Donegal under McGuinness to not reach the All-Ireland Quarter-final at least.
Dublin are long way off where they use to be and gave Donegal a big opportunity to win due to their awful shooting. If beaten by a team that was good on the day it would be easier for Donegal to take than manner of exit.
Defeats at home to Cork and Down before it showed something fundamentally was wrong with Donegal since winning the league title it was Derry like from a few years ago. I doubt Jim McGuinness will want to leave on such a low, in 2014 he left after All-Ireland final defeat
