Tough on Armagh; great for Donegal. Gripping game, with quality scores throughout (including the penalties).

Good luck to both teams in their next games (unless they meet us).

An Ulster final takes on a life of its own, and, while it's on, nobody's thinking about an All-Ireland.

My late Dad played in Clones for Tyrone in an era when he and other players cycled there, and then played the game, and cycled home.

I would have loved to be there today. Many times down the years you'd met someone back from London or elsewhere outside a pub before the match; the walk up the hill; the invariable heat - a hot day is always hotter in the grounds (outside the stand, the ground is a heat-trap), sunburned heads and hankies on top; tea, sandwiches and buns; lies and banter with the other team's fans in Tony's gym the car park afterwards.

From a fan's perspective, so many memories, joy and despair, all played out in Clones.

And they want to kill off the provincial championships.

Well done Donegal. We had to do it the hard way beating all of Derry, Tyrone and Armagh. What a magnificent 1st season back for Jim.

I thought Armagh had it won after 56 seconds given Forkers celebrations after his point.

You couldn't beat them enough or by enough and any county will tell you that.

Actually came on here to congratulate Donegal on winning today but some seven year olds can't seem to enjoy their moment. Did some big Armagh boys steal your dinner money?

Anyway congratulations to the majority of Donegal fans on here, an awful way to lose a game but so be it,

Here here. I feel for mcgeaney he's done Trojan work but some of their over the top celebrations during the game was a bit much.
I was unlucky enough to be in the hill with them in 22 and some fans where beyond disgraceful, I'd have them up there with the worst after down and limerick hurling

That was a gripping contest from start to finish! The shooting accuracy and the quality of long-range points kicked by both teams was exceptional. A cruel way for Armagh to lose once more.

Armagh played too much to the crowd after scores even during penalties, Donegal scored and head down and ready for the next. Jimmy is definitely the boy. Ulster is nice to win but championship starts now. Good luck.

Agreed, they seem to be an awful crowd for pointing to the the heavens and the big whoo to their supporters and the game far from over, But over all a great Ulster Cship not much in any of the games ,all could have went either way , Thats it in Ulster for another year and Donegal fully deserve to be winners , well done

brilliant stuff from our lads yesterday and even when the game wasn't going their way they showed heart and character and refused to be beaten. some fantastic scores by both teams and a first half that was for the ages. A pity there isn't a replay as it is terrible pressure to put on both teams who gave their all in a thrilling game, condensed season is treating our players and fans terribly. hopefully Jarlath Burns will sort this mess out!

What a brilliant win yesterday, everybody is walking around on cloud nine this morning. I thought Armagh payed really well, maybe the better team for the majority of the game. Stefan Campbell was outstanding. However they should have put the game away when they were 4 points up. We looked out on our feet at that stage and what a performance to get ourselves back level.

The first half of that match yesterday was brilliant, caught me by surprise as I thought it would be really low scoring in the first half. Oisin Gallen gave a exhibition of point taking and some great scores from Armagh as well. Gallen kept us in the game first half. We totally lost our way the start of the second half and that will concern Jim and that is usually our purple patch. Niall O'Donnell was deserving of his man of the match, he grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck when we looked down and out. Daire O'Baoill, Peadar Mogan and our midfeild McGee and Langan were excellent. Our defence struggled a bit in the first half with the long direct ball, probably the first time we have faced that. Not sure Ban was ready for that game but great to have him back. The fight this team are showing is incredible, we have looked beaten against both Tyrone and Armagh.

The sub were all brilliant, they all had a major impact. Anybody who watches club football in Donegal will have seen that trademark Odhran Doherty point a good few times, outside of the boot with his left foot, it really is a thing of beauty. We are in bonus territory now.

I thought the Armagh supporters were fantastic yesterday, I witnessed no bad behaviour and thought they really got behind their team. Every county has a few clowns. They are a really strong team but just can't get over the line, reminding me of the Mayo team of a few years ago. Even though they have a tough group, they should go deep into the championship and best of luck to them.

First of all commiserations to Armagh, that game deserved a replay, the Armagh fans we met were sound people and I really felt for them after the the shootout, penalties are no way to decide a Provincial title,
I thought we were gone when they were 4 points up but such a mighty effort from our boys to reel them back in, I thought we showed massive heart and skill.
Jim, where do you start, if they were any doubters left surely now even they can see what a fantastic man he is,
to bring this team from nowhere to Ulster glory, the lift Jim and the boys have given this county can't be underestimated, that was one of the greatest things that's ever been done in Gaelic football when you look at where Jim took us from 10 months ago.
The skill levels by both teams yesterday was unreal, Armagh will be back and no one will want to play them either, their day will come, it has to, yesterday belonged to Donegal though and the mighty man from Glenties Jim McGuinness,
Congratulations to all involved from the county board, to all the back room team, most of all the players and Jim and his management team, and of course the supporters, the pitch was swamped for the presentation, a day we will never forget.
On we go and who knows where this adventure will end in 2024, everything from here on is a bonus now, we have a league and Provincial title won already.
Who would bet against Donegal and McGuinness landing another All Ireland in the next few years?

What about the posters that stood in the pouring rain watching Antrim beat Donegal on the way to the Ulster final in 2009? Or how about the posters on this thread who saw an Antrim team win an All-Ireland Senior Championship in 2010, which no Donegal club have ever won.

Casement Park is as central as Clones to each area you mentioned when better transport links are considered. Of the 30,000 attendees at the match yesterday, how many travelled from areas outside of Armagh and Donegal?

Couple this with greater opportunity to book an bnb or a hotel break, or other activities in Belfast to make a weekend of it, I think it's a no-brainer that Casement will become the preferred location. There's no Fermanagh Street near Casement, but if you build it, they will come.
