Playing Mayo or Galway at a neutral venue might not be so handy and a defeat would possibly put them into the preliminary round. So it's not just complete plain sailing. Kerry should coast through. If I was Mayo, I'd much rather a crack at the Dubs in the group stages thereby losing on Sunday v Galway. You get a crack at the Dubs in final game of group stage in neutral venue (if the GAA call Croke Park neutral, they should be shot) Win and you are into quarter finals and put Dublin into prelims where they would A) end up playing potentially Derry or Kerry in quarter final and a fair chance they get the 3rd team from group 1 in a prelim would could mean a tough game v Galway, Derry or Donegal/Armagh first. B) That would mean Dublin cannot play Mayo in quarter final knockout game and it would also reduce risk of Mayo drawing Derry or Kerry in quarter final too as Group 1 has two big games whereas Dublin group will have two winnable games v Rossies and Cavan (not gimmes but easier) Lose and its not curtains and again you cannot get Dublin again in quarter final. I find people have been writing Mayo and Galway off this year, which is a big mistake, as both sides are getting players back from injury and can cause anyone problems. IF we win Ulster then the Groups will take care of themselves. The bounce we get IF we win Ulster will put us in a great position and I feel then we will be in bonus territory as far as the rest of the season is concerned." Think JMcG would agree, he will focus on winning the Anglo Celt. Winning Ulster secures two cups which would make it a good year already as well as putting you in a more favourable group (on paper at any rate) .. Cork away and Tyrone in fortress Ballybofey wouldn't be easy but manageable. The big bonus of winning your group is a free recovery week end , the other 8 teams face a gruelling prospect of playing 3 successive week ends ( final group stage match, preliminary quarter final and a quarter final) .. Away from the county scene the club leagues are in full swing. Any interesting stories or emerging players to comment on? We'll probably see the usual exodus of young lads to the US in the next few weeks as colleges finish up and J1 season kicks in. Speaking on that, does anyone have a link to the transfers tracker? I went looking for it on the GAA website one day and couldn't find it. Always interesting to see who has made a move, even if it is only a temporary one. How is there such a big difference in games played for some teams? Looking at the reserve table, Eunans, Glenswilly, Aodh Ruadh have all played 5 games but Naomh Conaill have only played 1 game? It's very quiet on here, especially considering the huge interest in the match. Ticket requests are through the roof. I hope everyone on here gets looked after. I'm slightly nervous now about the game itself. Armagh will have learned a lot about us from our own two meetings, as well as our last two games. They will have seen how we react to various situations. However, we have learned that no two games are the same, and each can take on a life of their own. Honestly, I think the refereeing will be critical. There's no word yet who has the gig. I thought even David Gough had a poor day yesterday, both teams will have been cursing him for some of his decisions. We have had our own recent battles with Armagh, and we haven't always fared well with referees, so our discipline will need to be at a very high level. In the Kenna Cup Final we were very naive by reacting when Derry got a well deserved red card. We can't afford similar of it happens next Sunday. And a suspension from next Sunday could be more costly than at any other time. Let's hope all goes to plan and we get the job done without injuries or suspensions. I'm dreading another nervy chess match. We sat so deep the last day. I'd love to see us press slightly further out the field and try to force the turnover rather than waiting for them to come at us. Probably we'll see a v similar game to the last day though. Our shooting was v poor although that was also because each shot was under pressure. Hopefully we are more accurate the next day. A big key the last day was getting runners in behind their defence and popping short passes into them. McGee and Mogan did it very well. If Patton is back it'll be huge. I can't see it though. We sat deep the last day because we didn't have patton, Tyrone were spooked by how we played against derry and gave us the short kick out for most of the game instead of a full court press on mulreany's kick out.
