Replying To TheRock2121:  "No Conor O Donnell?"
Agree, one of the stand out players last year. I'd have him ahead of Niall but in terms of their injuries I'm not sure who is due to return sooner.

No, purely because I heard he will be out for a while yet and by the time he gets back training, he might be too far behind to make it into the team this year. But moving forward he will definitely be part of it.

Replying To Commodore:  "My strongest starting 15 at the moment, not fully decided on this tbh.

Oisin Gallen.
Jamie Brennan
Patrick McBrearty or Niall O'Donnell.

Shane O'Donnell
Ryan McHugh
Ciaran Thompson

Michael Langan
Jason McGee

Caolan McGonigle
Peadar Mogan
Odhran Doherty / Caolan McColgan.

Jack McKelvey / Stephen McMenamin.
Brendan McCole
Eoghan Ban Gallagher
Shaun Patton"
On current form Ryan Mc Hugh will have bother making the starting 15. Kevin Mc Gettigan has been great in his first few matches and will be pushing hard for a corner back spot.

Eoghan ban is not a corner back. Eoghan Ban is not a corner back..........repeat X 10000.

Eoghan ban and peadar mogan at wing back could be the most explosive half back line in the country. Donegal are lacking a centre back. There is potential in ever other line but centre back is going to be a problem

I'm fairly sure I him with the lads not playing at the Armagh game, although I'm sure someone from Eunans would be able to confirm if hes on the panel or carrying an injury ir whatever the case may be

Totally agree with you Eoghan Ban and Peadar Mogan wing backs. Centre back a problem, thats why Jim is trying Mc Gonagle there.

I'd forgotten about that alright - remember he was trying to say he contacted the Ulster council himself to ask was the game been streamed !

Then we shared a link of the stream with him and he still insisted it wasn't streamed…

Some bluffers…

Caolan is on the panel , he's just injured at the minute, he's not far away on returning.

Kieran Tobin was excluded from panel as he didn't train while carrying a hamstring injury at the start of the gatherings.

Reading between the lines of Jim's interviews it was someone 'in house' who raised the Finbarr Roarty issue. I realise media did report it but apparently it was one of 'our own' who officially alerted Ulster.

I've heard it from one or two that it was a members of last years executive who isn't in situ now and not the obvious one you'd think.

Extremely petty and vindictive if true."

Kieran Tobin,Jamie Grant,Kealan Dunleavy and Johnie McGroddy looked good in the U-20s of 2 years ago and were in around the senior panel last year.It is disappointing that their progress seems to have stalled.Whether it is through injury lack of proper commitment or being overtaken by other emerging players I don't know.

McGroddy looked like a very good player from what I saw of him, great that we have so many good players in this county, hopefully Jim can make them into a team.
Vital that the academy does well to bring on the players of the future now too, things are a lot better than last year that's for sure.
Looks like it's going to be a very bad day for the McKenna Cup final, likely to spoil the game.

Your right game wasn't streamed live, it was available to buy after the event, which is no good if you cudnt make game. So I was proved right again.. good to see you back again, your a peculiar poster you sicken us all for a few days and then you sail into the sunset. Rare boy lol.

It'll hardly affect you anyway. Stick the fire on and watch away.. it's the true supporters that the weather affect but we're well used to it, we don't go by a forecast to decide if we go to a game.. up donegal

Yeah Conor O'Donnell will be a big miss to the squd if he's out. He is a very good footballer and has a good eye for a goal.
Gallen is the main man though. We have to hope and pray he stays injury free. He showed glimpses last year but if he can get a fully uninterrupted season then I think he really has the ability to push himself into that real elite bracket.

Interested to hear others thoughts on this...for me I'd categorise the quality of forwards in the country as below (not an exhaustive list by any means)

1. David Clifford - I think he's out on his own in his own category as the best forward in the country.
2. Players like Shane Walsh, Shane McGuigan, Con O'Callaghan, Paul Mannion, Darragh Canavan, Damien Comer, Ryan O'Donoghue

If Gallen can put together an uninterrupted run of form in 2024 he could push himself into the second category of players listed above in my opinion.

Agree. Think Gallan in the same category already as the second group. However teams like Dublin have so many quality players that the likes of Mannion and Con aren't double marked, so I'd be hopeful or other forwards can take attention away from him. Maybe Paddy will benefit from all those Gallan talk. He was immense before the injury. Kicked 8 points in the club championship from play with Eoghan Ban hanging from him and had a really good county campaign. Let's hope there's still some left in the tank.

Despite what the managers say I have a feeling that this weeks game could be a bit of a damp squib. It will have no bearing on what might happen in April. If we lose on Saturday I still think we have a good chance of beating them in the championship if the Ulster championship is going to be a priority in the new All Ireland system.

Eoghan Ban not a corner back. Curran is first choice in the full back line. McGettigan might push for the second CB position.

Aye he's quality but the next step for him will be to consistently display it at the top level. As you say, we all know it here in Donegal how good he is. I saw the county semi final when he had Gary McFadden and Neil McGee trying to do a job on him and he still managed a heap of points.
