Anyone know of any new faces being added to the Leitrim ladies panel. Obviously its important to keep the team that got us to Senior together. But there is some brilliant footballers that were involved in previous years and some that have not at all that could be great additions. The two McGoverns from Ballinamore, Shaylyn Ward, McGuinness and Dervla Beirne from Mohill are just a few that spring to mind. We need to have a strong as possible panel to be able to compete at senior level.
It will be exciting to see how we get on next year as it's a massive jump in the level of competition. Fair play to the girls for getting there and hopefully they can give us more to celebrate next year.

Not sure if some of the recent posts about players (O'Rourke etc.) being out for the league are accurate.
I also have heard that we might actually be the beneficiaries of an Inter-county transfer with one of the Jones brothers (Garbhan) submitting a request to go from Fermanagh to Leitrim - He would easily start for Leitrim although I am uneasy about an outsider with no ties taking a Leitrim mans place. All three brothers are also transferring to Leitrim Gaels - If Leitrim Gaels can manage to convince David Bruen and a few more of their players who have moved abroad to play next summer they could really be a force with the three additions.
Be interesting to see if the new rules will boos any teams that haven't been competing in recent years or will it just be more of the same?
Lastly, find it very 'interesting' that on his way out the door one of the last things the outgoing County Chairman did was to appoint his son in law to the county U20 management team. Its great to see our Minor and U20 management teams made up of Leitrim men but it was also known that Kevin Stritch (u17s) and James Mannion (U20s) were the driving force in our improvements this year.

There is a lot of rumours swirling about the Jones'. For months now, and yet nothing on the Live Transfer List yet. If they are transferring, what is the delay?
There is reports that Bruen & Enda Moreton will be back for championship in 2025, that plus either/both/all three of the Jones' brothers would put them right up there with Big 4.
I think we set too much store by outside coaches on co management teams. Stritch by all accounts was a huge positive but I have heard very little to suggest that Mannion could have been described as a 'driving force'.
The fact of the matter is the upswing in underage in recent times is due to growth of population in certain areas and good work done by a handful of coaches in clubs who have had lads from U13's up.
Has anyone got the full rundown on the U17 and U20 managements
U17 Danny Beck, Ciaran Kennedy + ?
U20 Barry McWeeney, James Glancy + ?

"Be interesting to see if the new rules will boost any teams that haven't been competing in recent years or will it just be more of the same?" More of the same, it will just mean that teams that have very strong forwards will just have to keep them up forward and get the ball to them the moment they get it, so be faster transition and more shots taken but more heavy beatings on teams that are not as fit and relied on blanket defenses and negative/ time wasting tactics like throwing the ball away to frustrate opposition and stay competitive. Smart move from CB to reduce teams in championship, looking forward to see how teams adapt

I think Jones would have to play for a Leitrim club for a year before he could declare for the county ( stand to be corrected) so that would mean he would not be available until 2026. I can't see Ryan Jones transferring to Leitrim Gaels as a player and being a county selector, it would be seen as a major conflict of interest for a lot of the county panel you would think.

If Ryan Jones does end up playing for Leitrim Gaels he would probably be the best midfielder in the county.

I understood you could not just decide to transfer to a club in another county unless you had residency or at least a close relative from there." Id be thinking the same and what is reason leaving derrygonnolly, they would be or were one of the top teams in ulster?

I'm not sure of the rules surrounding inter-county transfers and I'm not entirely comfortable with a Fermanagh man taking a Leitrim mans position but it is clear the three Jones brothers won't be playing for their home club again and were training with Leitrim Gaels all last summer and have a right to play football so its about time we get a rub of the green. Garbhan kicked 1-8 mostly from play against Cavan last year so to say he would be a good addition is an understatement.
Some of the points on Ryan Jones having a conflict of interest as he is playing in the club championship is utter nonsense. Jones is only a selector within a wider management team after all. Conor Laverty for ex. plays for Kilcoo and is managing Down - It doesn't seem to matter there? There'll always be people looking for a reason to moan. Would be great to see another club such as Leitrim Gaels being able to compete.
Has anyone been at any of the challenge games Leitrim have been playing in recent weeks?
Also, I see Ballinamore has been announced as our Inter-County venue for the league. Does anyone know when Pairc Sean will reopen? And will it have flood lights?
On the new rules - As brilliant as our club finals were this year if anybody had the misfortune of being at the Aughawillan/Fenagh and Leitrim Gaels/St Mary's quarter final they will understand why the sooner changes happens the better. Will be so interesting to see how teams have to adapt and change. It'll take a few months to settle in but teams with top forwards must be excited going into the new year.
Any word on if Mohill have appointed a manager yet? They seem to be the only big team left to get someone seeing as Bobby O'Rourke and Gary Donoghue are in with Fenagh.
