Replying To sourmilk93:  "No still Brigids to lose imo.

I would have Clann Pearses and Boyle just behind them in the next group.

Great win for Glaveys last weekend but i need to see them back it up to fully believe in them."
I'd agree with that. Very hard to know where the Gaels are at now as well after that performance against Castlerea.

Castlerea v WG for the drop. Would have said Castlerea out of those two before the last round of games but not so sure now.

I'd agree with the intermediate but think Brigids might be sparked into action now again for the senior. Brigids v Boyle would be a great clash if it happens.

Replying To Seanfan:  "Brids likely got their wake up call last weekend (or are they just not up for it at all?)
Pearses looked pretty hot v Fáiles
Boyle scoring for fun but dodgy on conceding goals.
Clann or Ros G could beat any of the above 3 on a given day but would they beat 2 in succession?
Glaveys the most improved side and could upset an applecart yet.
Oran, Fáiles , North Ros and Elphin making up the numbers?
Westerns look most likely relegation candidates ."
"Pearses looked pretty hot v Fáiles"

What are you on about? Pearses lost to Faithleachs..... If you mean they looked pretty hot V Doms so did they other teams who all beat them comfortably.

Was Glaveys win against Brigids not them backing up their semi final place last year?

Pearses the defending champions probably loved all the talk about Brigids but they showed at the weekend they are far from unbeatable.

Not to me no. They were shocking bad in the league and the other two championship were games they would be expected to win handy against weak senior sides.

Brigids are probably the strongest team in the county but complacency is their biggest enemy.

Brigits game will just be a blip but a huge boost for a good glaveys side. I do still have them as favourites just for the sheer strength of their starting 15 and bench. But Boyle and Pearses will definitely be in the mix regardless. Clann had a great 1st half v Faithleachs but dropped off, Ciaran Lennon was exceptional but 1-12 will not realistically be happening again in a half when he is against a team with better man markers.

The draw will tell a lot- a chance we could see Boyle v Brigits, Clann v Brigits, Boyle vs Pearses . Any one of these pairings could really open up the championship to the remaining teams. Roscommon Gaels will be hoping to avoid Pearses and Brigits at all costs in a quarter final, being seeded might come back to haunt them.

Relegation looks to be a tough one to call - everyone predicting Western Gaels to finally succumb to relegation after a number of years in the mix. Dominics are missing Keith Doyle and this could be a huge factor. Castlerea will have enough in my view to stay up but I do see these games being very tight.

Yeah taught that was what you meant Seanfag.
They will get a decent game from Oran the next day but should have enough to reach the 1/4s

Debatable and they aren't even the defending champions. When only scoring 0-11 with the new rules in place for higher scoring then issue was a lot more than just complacency. Their response to that defeat will be fairly telling now.

@sourmilk a lot goes on during a league campaign with commitment player availability etc. Championship football is where sides are fully judged. First two group wins was them getting back to winning ways the win against Brigids showed reaching and very close to winning the county semi final last year was no fluke.

Looks like the FBD is coming back and without the dome.

Good for the new manager to trial players out before league.

Can someone confirm either way if group winners/seeded teams have hone quarter finals thus year. That could potentially change the dynamics of the.match ups I see reference to it in an article in Roscommon People. Now that same person has form.for getting it wrong..

Aside from home advantage it is going to reduce crowds at some matches as there will be potentially long journeys. Brigids could potentially be heading to Boyle while Faithleachs could be heading to Ballinlough or Boyle while Pearses could also be heading to either also..Elphin could be heading to Clann. There could be potentially longer trips for those in intermediate and junior championships.

Poorly thought out ino as sone of the grounds are not capable of holding a county quarter final in terms of pitch quality, ground facilities never mind parking..imagine trying to park in lisnamult for a ¼ final uts bad enough for an ordinary league game. The same for Ballinlough and Johnstown..it will be worse at sone of the intermediate clubs.

Hopefully the county board will see some common sense for the times of the fixtures as to date the fixtures timings have been ridiculous. For those with season tickets or even clubber subscriptions putting 3 senior games on the one evening at.the same time for most of the group stages was ridiculous to say the least. They could take a leaf out of their neighbours in Longford who have most of the club senior games at different times to allow people to go or watch them. It is no surprise the ir clubber subscription take up out of the 14 counties available is one of the highest. Good business for clubber as they paid longford county board peanuts for it.

Have seen that article too but the QF's have never had the top seeds have a home game since this format has come in - don't see why it would be changed now. Assume they are all still neutral.

Elphin nine points to spare against North Roscommon to reach the last eight. Clann,Boyle or Roscommon Gaels they'll play.

Castlerea have retained their senior status with a real hard earned win, down to 14 men and Western Gaels 5 points in front with 15 minutes to play looked very dodgy for them, Adam McDermott provided the leadership they needed.

Western Gaels v St Dominic's for the drop won't be easy to pick a winner there.

This was rumoured to be the case but not true. Quarter finals will be played in Neutral Grounds. Only right, don't think a home game would be fair and also your points about some of the grounds ability to host is very valid.

What is the benefit of seeded mean at all then? Nothing as far as I can see.
