Yesterday's games should be a warning to Galway, take this easy at their peril. Rightly the favourites for this one but give Westmeath a sniff and with the big support they'll have they could turn it into a battle. I think this is a really good test of Galways character at the right time of the championship. Best avoid the losers side of the draw considering the teams in that pot tomorrow morning. Great chance to click and get momentum going into the business end of the championship. Gaillimh abu.

Job done for Galway into the last 8 via the direct route and have the rest off to rest and prepare now. Once again Galway didn't make things easy for themselves 3-21 scored and left some amount of scores behind them.

Defensively and kick outs need improvement before the last 8.

Two weeks is massive at this stage.Time for maybe Matthew Thompson to maybe get fitter and rest the bodies.

We never make things too easy for ourselves but thought that was a well rounded performance today, Darcy in particular was immense. Still plenty to work on for the next two weeks, too wasteful in front of goal with the shots dropped short from distance and blazing attempts at goal letting opposition off the hook. Glad to be avoiding the round 3 games next weekend, proper dogfights likely

I don't want to get ahead of ourselves but we have put ourselves in the best position possible to really go the distance this year. We have kept ourselves (relatively) fit and have avoided the dreaded weekend before the QF. The way the draw has shaped up this morning has helped us too with two of Kerry/Armagh/Dublin/Donegal exiting before the quarter finals.

Now's the time lads - drive on.

Great position indeed. lots of talk that Finnerty had a knock yesterday and was a doubtful starter, McDaid also seemed to pick up a knock . It is great to know that 2 big teams in the top 4 in the betting will be gone by Sunday evening. The winner of Kerry V Armagh will be hot fav for SAM and will bring great momentum to theIr QF. I would have thought the manner of Armagh's defeat yesterday coupled with the toughest possible away draw might rock their spirit bit who knows.

Congrats to all the lads, great win yesterday, Westmeath are a decent side.
I love it when McDaid does his power solo runs but sometimes a quick foot pass up the pitch is more effective.
Really looking forward to quarterfinals in headquarters.

We haven't really played anyone though. Our 2 last big championship games as far as I'm concerned were the Connacht final and the Meath game last summer. Kildare are terrible, Leitrim are Div 4, Westmeath are Div 3 and have gone to extra time twice in recent weeks. With all that said, I do think we are improving and have lots to still work on. The QF is as far as I'm looking and that's a massive game for this group regardless of who we play.

I don't think it will rock their spirit, but I do see Armagh exiting the championship next weekend.

My feeling during the game was that westmeath much better than div 3. Really good team, some great players. Their keeper is a bit of a liability even though our press yesterday was best all year.

Thought yesterday was a really good test for us and our composure at end of game.

Can see that - we won the last 2 50/50 balls that mattered.

Comer got out of trouble in the last few minutes with some decent catches, one from the kickout and one from a sideline ball. Another option to bring in around the middle when we're under pressure.

There is definitely a big Matthew Thompson sized hole at centre forward. They've tried Mulhern and McGrath in his place but neither have been fully convincing. McGrath been a bit better.

What's the story with Johnny McGrath? Has he been dropped or is he carrying a knock?

The handy draws probably stop here. Because of the way results have gone there is a very good chance Galway could get a Donegal, Meath, Kerry or Armagh in the quarter-final. Or Mayo even.
