Replying To Marooned:  "Thought he would have been fit enough to play club this year. He didn't seem to have any really serious injury this year. Just a bunch of small ones one after another. You'd wonder what will change by next year to keep him any fitter and available? I'm sure he won't want to go out like this but his availability is a big concern now."
RIP Don Connelan
Damo cant be relied upon in terms of Galway as he is usually not available such a pity. did not play any league this year to have him primed for champo only played a last 20 in last 2 games. goes back to club and his unavailable is it a muscular injury again?

Replying To Gaillimh_Abu:  "I honestly think that Damien should pack it in altogether at this stage for his own sake. Since he damaged his ankle playing soccer in 2018, he has been constantly picking up new injuries or aggravating old ones and I don't see how there is a realistic hope of him ever returning to full fitness and staying injury-free for an extended period of time. For the sake of his health in the long term, he should just retire now."
For the sake of his long term health? Repetitive hamstring and muscular injuries aren't something which are going to impact his quality if life in later years? It's not as if he's playing through a degenerative hip, knee or back injury.
It's up to Damien to decide when he's going to hang up the boots and he has a medical team to advise him.
I'd be delighted to see him keep going and I'll be hoping we get to see more of him on the pitch next year. He's the one who has to put in the work to do it however, so it'll be his call. If he can get himself fit for a run of games, he has a massive amount to offer Galway football.
Condolences to Don Conellans's family and all who knew him. A man who gave his life to the GAA in Roscommon, Galway and UCG. Far too young an age to go. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

I dont doubt Damos quality but he cant be trusted to stay fit for Galway which is a loss to us more than anyone. Also everyone is a beter player when they are missing!! I would have to question the medics & S&C as he continuously has broken down and unavailble more so than available. Will hw kick a ball with Annaghdown this year?

Would you have some respect. What qualifications have you to be questioning professional medics? Some of the best resourced sports teams in the world have players that have injuries that are difficult to repair/rehab. Our players are amateur and unpaid. What they do as private citizens is none of your business. Finally, if you're going to say someone can't be trusted, at least have the decency to post your name and contact, so they or their legal representatives can discuss the issue with you. Cop on.

If he's only available next year for 3 or 4 20min cameos, as he was this year, then isn't that a good thing? What's it to you otherwise? Even in those short substitute appearances, he still made a big impact. As long as he's happy to commit then any Comer on the pitch whatsoever is better than none

It's no coincidence that so many key players are constantly injured. It points to poor management, rushed returns, and a lack of proper recovery or physio. If you're losing your best players year after year, you're not managing a squad, you're burning it out. The few months off the club games could be great for Damo to get himself back for next year.

Questioning Professional medics I have merely pointed out that it needs to be looked into as we have not had a fit Damo for years and god knows we needed him to get over the line. Every small little thing needs to be looked at we have been knocking on the door last 5 years and have had our best shot in 20 plus years to end the famine and I dont want Galway to let this opportunitty slip as I still feel we can end the long wait for Sam but time is ticking with this group. I dont trust that when it comes to the crux of champo football that he will be fit & available and I stand over that. We all seen what he did in his 20 min cameo against meath. I like every galway fan had hoped that he would go back & have a good league campaign with Annaghdown and be primed for Galway in 2026. It now looks like he could miss most of the club champo.

Where have you been hiding? You're the lad who'd be on live line, you've been whining and putting the boot into the squad for a number of years. Nobody on the forum has the right to call out amateur players or tell them what to do. I've just got respect for the players and backroom who give so much.

So it looks like Tally won't be returning to Galway, and has instead opted to join Andy Moran across the border...

Irrespective of the Joyce era failings, we will another connacht title as Andy Moran is way out of his depth.

Happy days in Galway!

Any word on joyce staying on? Joyce only had 2 years u20s, bit of club u21s and a 3 game series in the international rules as selector before he got the galway job. Moran and mayo will b alright. If joyce stays it'll b interesting to see if players like culhane stay on, no game time vs meath after getting a crucial score vs Down.

A fantastic appointment for the U20s in Kevin Johnson who brings great club level experience that will hopefully translate well to the county scene with Galway. If things go to plan and he performs well I can see him being a strong contender to step in when PJ eventually moves on. I would imagine that possibility was part of the conversation when he was offered the role.

Hopefully we see someone of similar calibre take on the U17 position. Has there been any talk about who might be in the running?

Tomo needs to big club champ to warrant keeping his place on panel. He was average v MM

Costello id expect will see plenty of game time next and has unlimited potential. His brother could be worth another look too

LOC and COC also will need to push on and offer more from play

We have any amount of capable players from 5-12 but a bit more depth in quality inside scoring forwards is needed

U20 hurling and football managers will be ratified at September county board according to the statement. I wonder will all the other management teams be ratified at this meeting also?
