We've been critical on occasion over the years of Mayo forwards and forward lines, but that starting sextet today might take the biscuit as the worst I've ever seen.

From our own standpoint, hard to escape the irony in relation to the quality of Walsh's kicking today, after the trauma that transpired in this area, on the biggest day in the sport's calendar last season.

Need to be rotating the squad now that we already have maximum points after two games. Get Finnerty, Daly, Glynn, Hernon and Sam O'Neill more game time if we can and then there is Comer and Culhane to get back in at some stage. Maybe James McLoughlin will get back fit. Tierney given a break today, Conroy should be rested at some stage for a game or two as well.

I'll post a more detailed analysis later, right now I'm having a pint down the town in my Tommy Varden jersey. Great win and physically in great shape

The difference being Walsh clearly wasn't hampered with any injuries today, unlike the AI final.

The positives.
McGrath and Fitzgerald, brilliant defenders and get the crowd going when they turn on ver a forward.
Sean Kelly, looks back to his best
Maher, Darcy, bullied Mayo today all day in the middle third, mad to think they weren't on the panel in 22.
O'Laoi, has definitely added some cut.
Walsh, looks to be injury free.
Sam O'Neill, physically ready and a serious athlete, Coen tried it on and O'Neill fairly dealt with him
O'Curraoin, very accurate.
Finnerty, looks to have gotten is very good shape in the off season.

The negatives
We lost a lot of 50/50 kick outs when we needed the ball, need a short option.
Gleeson attempt at a point, never on
Conroys free from midfield, like above, crazy from an experienced player.

Overall, very good.
I think the changes at the starts upset Mayo, they were expecting Daly at 6. They were also brutal on the line let's be fair. Pushing up on our kick out when against the wind, meant if we won the ball they were high and we punished them.
It's going to be very competitive now even for the 26.
I expect Hernon and Comer to start when fit.
Well done Colm Costello on his debut, he will be star for us in years to come

Guess who's back? back again? Shaney's back. Tell a friend…..A serious performance in Castlebar today with the Shane and O'Curraoin show up front. McGrath, Fitzy, McHugh, Silke and more absolutely dogged in defence. Conroy, Maher really motoring. O'Neill impressing. A great team performance. And there's still a lot more in us - the pot is simmering! Training is obviously picking up real tempo already and clear that there's massive competition for the jersey. Really, really enjoying Galway football at the moment. More power to ye lads, keep driving!!

A serious panel now, to think Comer, Hernon, Molloy, Daly, Mulkerrin, Culhane, Tierney, Egan, Mc Cabe didn't even play today, says a lot..

Exactly. Last year he clearly could not fully follow through on kicks. Was dropping short and forcing lots of them. Badly hampered and to say otherwise it's completely unfair.

Great to see Sean Kelly running freely. He will only get better. When he came back last year he always looked "lame"

Kicking frees 'badly hampered' in an all Ireland final. You'd wonder about the intellectual capacity of the stakeholders in that process. Reminds one of Skehill's one armed goalkeeping 'cameo' at the 2012 hurling final replay.

A fairly sweet win in Cashel bar as the locals call it. Felt even at half time that Galway had the measure of that Mayo team today and won pulling up when could and should be a greater margin. No reason with the panel strength in depth and no Connacht game until mid April that Galway don't push on and try to win this Div 1 title now.

Very strong squad now alright.
McCabe isn't in the squad anymore though.
McGrath is such a good player

I wouldnt mind the one armed cameo its the slide tackle against mulchay in the 2018 final that cost us, brilliant win today for the footballers, looked in peak physical condition today, thought we attacked everything when we had the chance maybe it was mayo being so open but also i can't see us being so negative in possession now that cian o neill is gone, we have the forward and the kickers for 2 pointers I believe

Great win McGrath was outrageous he has ROD in his pocket like mannion used to have brolly.

Fitzgerald who I had doubts about was outstanding again also.

Walsh looked sharp from minute one.

When did finnerty become a righty

Good to see O'Neill play a bit deeper in his natural position.

Ocurrion kicked his points well in 2nd half but thought overall still struggling in open play

Olaoi I just don't see it, while a tremendous athlete and constantly on the move he is an about a 1 in 5 shooter when he takes on a shot which he is generally adverse to. Maher already covers that role.

Mcdaid was not involved again today but I wouldn't worry about him.

Can make a few changes v Derry and still drive on. Heaney Tierney and Finnerty can come in for a bit of game time and hopefully hernon is back soon.

Any word on cooke or current status of comer

Surprised Mayo did not prepare for this game, not sure what their sideline is thinking. Galway were good but if you live by the 2, you die by the 2. Counties will shut this down soon enough. Still, congrats to the Galway outfit. Mission accomplished yesterday.

Good win yesterday I still think Galway very dependent on 2-3 players to score Walsh , conroy and o curraine from frees our half forward line don't score 1 point in 2 matches not good enough mayo who were poor got 6 from there half forward line o Laoi does a lot good things but can't score Darcy same as year goes on and the top teams tie up Walsh Galway will struggle for scores from other forwards

Not sure how to look at that performance yesterday, I can't ever remember mayo being so bad and they still score 16 points on us and create the best goal scoring chance of the game. It's still nice to win by 10 and have 4 points on the board after two games but not sure we have been as good as people think.

A 'tremendous athlete and constantly on the move' might well be the type player who'll get on ball and be influential in a crunch tie, when other players are incapable of impacting on the day. O'Laoi has already demonstrated that very characteristic, in the crunch Mayo championship tie of 2022 in Castlebar.
