Apologies yes, I worded that incorrectly. He was amongst the substitutes in Pearse the other evening but not togged, along with the rest of the extended panel.

You could argue Mayo missing more players, apart from O'Callaghan& Cluxton who do Dublin have to come back? Fenton, McCarthy, Mannion and McCaffrey all gone. Looks unlikely John Small will be back and did Mick Fitz retire? I can't recall TheBishop (Galway) - Posts: 289 - 29/01/2025 08:16:07 2588293 Link 0 |
I hope we mind Kelly, Walsh and Comer this year. Heavy pitches are notoriously bad for dodgy hammers. Also a huge percentage of hammer injuries happen when players are fatigued. When starting the above lads we should be taking them off early even if they are going well. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1904 - 29/01/2025 10:17:10 2588305 Link 1 |

We'll have to improve significantly for the Mayo match in Castlebar. They will bust a gut to beat us and feel they can't go 0 from 2. Rob Hennelly summed it up on Midwest's coverage of their Dublin loss. He stated that Mayo are targeting the Galway match. He also said that Mayo team and mgmt believe Galway are much easier to turnover in play than Dublin, and that they'll beat us with turnovers and quick counter attacks. He added that their high press on our kickouts will force lots of mistakes. So there ye go lads, don't say ye weren't forewarned. Now let's go up there and put them back in their box. The truth is, they loathe us, so let the feeling be mutual!! Bring fire!!! togoutlads (Galway) - Posts: 988 - 29/01/2025 12:38:23 2588339 Link 1 |
Daniel flaherty will hopefully keep improving, Joyce likes him going forward but wants more out of him defensively.Dont think rob finnerty was ever going to feature against Armagh, fit or injured. He could well make the subs bench this week. Will be interesting to see will young Matthew Thompson get any game time in the league definitely one to watch.Hopefully Sam o Neill gets another chance a man that can win his own ball.As for the goalkeeping looks as if both keepers could be used in games all depending on the game situation. Not sure why Mayo would be thinking that. The Dublin team they played was a patched up team who unless they get some experienced players back won't reach the business end of the championship. Yes Mayo will play this match like a cup final but they are playing a far strong Galway team than what they faced in Croke Park, just look at the strength of the Galway bench named tonight,

Thought O'Neill looked like a fish out of water in the inside forward line last week. Just not his position. Interesting to see he's named in the same spot this week. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2323 - 01/02/2025 13:54:52 2588762 Link 0 |
No amount of money would get me to be that.

Personally I would have like see a change in goal if Galway trying to bring keeper out every team that comes up against Galway know Gleason is no threat with ball in had he just gets ball and passé it 2 yards he never going to kick a score not his fault he just not thar type player ,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 985 - 01/02/2025 15:13:58 2588770 Link 1 |
Never going to kick a score? Perhaps you need to rephrase that a little, after the 2024 Connacht Final epic finale.

Yes meant from play ,,,,maybe he might prove me wrong still I think looking at matches this evening on tv galway would be as well off getting an outfield player play in goal as all keepers are up the field and scoring regular personnel I'm not in favour of the 2 points or being allied bring ball back out side arc if ball is brough forward by referee

There will be better challenge matches than that during the year. Mayo are miles off the pace and the difference in the standard of shooters in the two forward lines was stark. Thought McGrath and Fitzgerald were class at the back. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 817 - 02/02/2025 16:23:48 2588913 Link 3 |
