For a fella who's been on the panel so long he's not bulked up like the others. Think he's the same age group as McGrath and he's definitely filled out like he has. I like O'Conghaile, he's found it tough going but its his first year on the panel and like Culhane he has a lot of filling out to do but he's very mobile and is very comfortable with either feet. The Dublin team who won last year were mostly 33-41 years of age, and they ran rings around the young fellas, they crushed them. Conroy is exactly what we need. Conroy was the man of the match, he's up for GAA player of the week. Seán Kelly is lethal when he gets going and he is the gel between the lads, I think we're going to get a huge performance from him this Saturday. Funny how the narrative is that Paul Conroy doesn't have the legs for Croke Park when Pearse stadium's pitch is just as big of a pitch if not bigger than Croke Park and he got man of the match there last weekend. It's not that, it's the surface that makes it a faster game in Croke Park. It's like playing on carpet. Players are generally moving faster and the ball is too once it hits the ground. There's no thicker grass to slow a ball down or bump or divot to throw a bouncing ball off course. Saying all that, I'd absolutely start Conroy and see how much we can get out of him. Kicked a world class score 2022 League Final: Best individual Galway performance in Croker since Joyce in 01 2021 Connacht Final: Majestic first half, absolutely everywhere. Went out of it in second in 28 degree heat and Galway injury riddled So there we go. One poor performance, 1 ok and 4 good or better. Younger, faster and fitter players will always prefer a hard dry pitch to play on. Softer or thicker pitches reduce the advantages a nippier player will have. They basically reduce space. The pitch in Pearse Stadium is good, but it's still a long way off Croke Park. There isn't a GAA pitch surface in Ireland as good as Croke Park. Hoping for the best on Saturday. For all the slagging we give Mayo about no All Ireland for over 70 years, it is 90 years since we last beat Dublin in championship and I'm not sure we'll get a better chance than Saturday. They are a good team but not as good as they were in 2018. I think we are a better team than we were in 2018. I hope the players come with genuine belief that they can win. If we lose it could be the end of the management team. PJ has done a good job but I can't see him staying on without Cian O'Neill, who I believe will leave at the end of the season.
