'very much a 50/50 game', and a few days later 'Martin Storey's tache' is over on the Leinster Championship thread, proposing a move to Munster for Galway in a straight swop with Waterford moving to Leinster. Saving diesel and distance for fans in support of the green economy was cited as 'motivation' of sorts for the move!!

We are 1/5 to win tomorrow night which is fairly short but I'd be confident once the five week gap has been managed correctly. The team named has a couple of changes from the Offaly game with Gavin Maher and Vince Morgan from Loughrea in for Conor Gilligan and Ryan O'Donnell. Would expect Kilkenny to beat Laois pretty easily in the other semi final. Don't think this Laois team is up to much, especially in their back line. Kilkenny's size in the forward line will give them awful trouble. galway19 (Galway) - Posts: 894 - 13/05/2025 19:03:12 2609339 Link 0 |
The best way to bring players through is to win under 20 , PERIOD

It's the best way, but not the only way. And it's not always a guaranteed way either. Only Limerick of the u20/1 AI winners from the last 10 years have followed up with a SenIor AI, and it took players from 2 u21 AI winning teams to achieve that.

I don't know what you're getting at

I totally agree, there's no chicken/egg which comes first here at all. U21 championships lead to 'developed players' for senior fare. That's been the steady Galway pattern stretching back to 1972. I don't know what sort of u21 'development' went on in Galway since 2011, but it hasn't delivered championships, and in the past decade hasn't delivered players either.
