Pres were physically off the pace, ASR were better conditioned, seems to be common trend at County 17/18/19/20, Colleges etc , compared to Clare/Limerick teams. ASR had some really impressive hurlers, probably could have won by 10 points if they took their chances. Raphaels have great chance to make final. Have to remember though that the majority of the Pres team is still eligible next year so they aren't at the top end of the age group yet. Niland and Rabbitte are still there next year and I'm pretty sure Murphy, Fallon, Quirke, Leen, Lawless are back as well.

In fairness there was only three Limerick men on the MI team and one was only a sub, but Daithi Lohan was off.

Yes that leaves them in pretty good shape for next year with the spine of the team intact. Quirke and Lawless would be the main two gone. You really need u20s as the backbone of your team in this competition which the Pres don't really have that this year. Their best players are all last years minors. Ardscoil could afford to bring on minors like Sean Arthur because they can rely on older lads. Diarmuid Stritch didn't even play. You wouldn't say Raphaels are a much more talented side than Athenry but they are better balanced age wise because they have the few older lads like Paddy McCartaigh who has hurled senior club and Oscar O'Gorman who was minor two years ago. They just ran into a good team today that will probably win it out. I'd say they will be in a better position for the competition next year. Don't think hype really comes into it either this bunch. Outside of Niland and Murphy, they are just good hurlers. We all know what Aaron can do and most people saw the 0-16 in the u20 final when he was three years under the age level so naturally he will be talked about. These lads, along with the Raphael's bunch, were all part of a minor team expected to win an all ireland but that is the same with most Galway minor teams. Yes I heard that ARS have a fulltime S&C coach so this kind of "professionalism" is even taking over some schools at this stage. No wonder it is like watching men against boys in such circumstances!

Probably won't learn much in terms of what they are playing against but the way that back line named is interesting with Fintan at 3, Cianan at 6, and Daithi at 7. Great to see Davy back in midfield.
