Replying To Claretandblue:  "A proper hurling fan would have acknowledged the legitimacy of the goal, arguing that it wasn't relevant is beyond juvenile, in a one point game having a legitimate goal not awarded is a massive aspect, magnanimity in victory is the essence of class."
A proper hurler will always play the whistle. There was no green flag, no whistle blown, no goal awarded. There was an umpire on each side of the goalposts, maybe you should get in touch with them and ask them if they're embarrassed.

Replying To TerribleFootwork:  "Silly post reality is both teams will have grievances over different decisions, goal that wasn't for OLG, potential red card for Conor Heary, should have been a definite red for Jordan Molloy. Regan's red was harsh but what cancelled it out was Eanna Burke definitely should have been sent off for 2 yellows, i actually think Regan's red saved him as the ref didn't want either team down to 13."
What some people l(ike claret and blue) are forgetting is that OLG could / should have got at least 3 red cards for the Heary and Molloy "tackles" as well as Lawlor (who was already on a yellow card from the first half) pulling down Conor Cooney when he was straight through on goal in the second half but James Regan was the sacrificial lamb for all those "discrepancies" even though I could see very little contact myself in that incident despite the dramatics of the OLG player.

Replying To clare_sparrow:  "unreal win for Thomass. Another major won as a result of Power Physicality and heart. Hopefully Shefflin & co will have noted this. If someone says the weather suited them good luck. Limerick have dominated as a result of physicality. Shane Cooney has to be a started for Galway now along with fintin. maybe full and center back be the place for them.

and lads saying should have taken of eanna, ha some lads here havent a clue about hurlin. not an iota"
Shane Cooney has started for Galway before, and not always to rave reviews.

One factor that you may not have considered for your 'findings' here, is any potential gulf in class between the OLG forwardline, and for example the Limerick intercounty forwardline.

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "Actually the funny thing is nobody from Kilkenny is coming on complaining about "the goal" (unless you're one in disguise) and I expect they wont because they are generally good sportspeople. They'ĺl know that one major decision went against them but they'll also know they got the benefit of 2 major decisions made in their favour i.e. the sending off of James Regan which was never a red card and the non-sending off of the O'Loughlins player. (Some might reference the tackle made on Conor Cooney too which was borderline red). And OLG still got a last second free to draw the match but they sent it wide. That's why you wont get Kk fans complaining because they know it's swings and roundabouts.

It takes someone supposedly from Westmeath to do the whinging though I suspect it's the Clare part of your moniker that's keeping you bitter."
Thomas's were worthy winners. I honestly didn't think they'd beat Ballygunner but their fierce determination and will to win got them over the line. The same qualities were evident yesterday, along with huge amounts of skill, of course. Eanna Burke's winning point was right up there with Joe Canning's wonder score against Tipp in 2017. I have good time for Sean Stack as a referee but he made a few wrong calls yesterday, especially in relation to red card decisions. On balance I don't think OLG can have any complaints - the better team won, without a doubt.

Limerick have dominated because of their speed. They hurl fast, think fast, everything is fast and decisive. They make space on the pitch, run into that space, and find the man in space. There's alot more to their game than size.

Comparing club hurling to inter county hurling is a nonsense.

Injuries were a big factor in the last couple of years for Shane and to be fair he was solid enough (despite the odd mistake and what back doesn't make a mistake?) in most of the games I saw him play in anyway. The biggest disappointment in the Galway backs for me in the last number of years has probably been Padraig Mannion. For all his attributes and skills as a player, he never really kicked on from the 2017 / 2018 season and in particular the 2018 final where he underperformed as he was in hurler of the year form up to that match. Conor Cooney in the forwards could be added to that category also along with Jason Flynn.

Replying To FatLadySinging:  "Even if the "goal" had been allowed, St Thomas's would still have won the match as they really upped the tempo in the second half and proved with a man down, that they were the better team and would have repulsed anything O'Loughlin Gaels threw at them. Thomas's were determined to re-balance their legacy by winning another All Ireland after winning 6 Galway titles in a row and their greatness cannot be disputed after defeating the Munster and Leinster champions."
True and I must say that I was very impressed with Thomas's unheralded / lesser known players who were true warriors like Kelly in goals, Sherry (unfortunate injury he suffered), Duggan, Cathal Burke, Headd, Finnerty, Manso and Flannery.

Strange. Thought Padraig got an All Star 2 years ago.

congrats to st. thomas yesterday..what a club they are and we should be lucky to have them in galway..in conditions like that it was always going to be difficult but once again led by davy burke they found away to win..

in regards the county starting 15 if shane cooney can push on now i thinh he'll make the 6 jersey his alongside cianan fahy and mannion..id have davy burke midfield along with o shea..o shea will learn alot from having burke beside him..

either way shefflin has alot of good players to choose from and a good mixture of youth/experience and from what ive seen so far there all very good on the ball so lets hope for a good year for them..
the key for them i think is to win the leinster title and after that who knows..

just a final word on david burke..surely now he has to regarded has one of the greatest midfielders/players that has ever played the game..the man has everything..

well done lads..enjoy the celebrations.

Great to see Daithí O'Sé in the stands celebrating with his family. He is a Kerry man living in Peterswell but he is now more Thomas's than Thomas's themselves!

It's amazing David Burke ever togged out again after his injury. Many thought he'd never play again. Fair play to him.

But sure that's what happens when one knits into the community....with his children being educated there now!
I'd say not many between Peterswell, Castledaly and Kilchreeeeeeresssssst stayed away from the stands to be quite frank!

David Burke is a legend, he is up there with Canning at Galway level and delivered a savage and defiant performance yesterday. I'm not from Thomas but close by and was roaring them on yesterday as Burke seemed to roll back the years to be everywhere on the pitch just savage determination, skill, battle. Oh that David was 23 and Galway would be safe in midfield for another decade.
