Yes very much so, especially when clubs can issue statements that pull at the heartstrings and make their situation seem worse than it is. I know what he's referring to. The 4/1 odds are based on 60 minutes play, not the outright winner. So, the result will be Gort, St Thomas or a draw; a 'three horse' race. Is Portumna still even senior in Galway? So much has changed. The game has moved on to such a higher level. The standard in Galway seems to not have moved on at all. In fact, it seems to have gone done a lot. It seems that there's not much to differentiate Senior 'A' from Senior 'B' these days. It is rather ironic, from a man who uses "your" when it should be "you're", to pedantically comment on a simple typo between "down" and "done". But that seems to be symptomatic of the younger generations. Btw, I've never claimed to be an expert anywhere. I ain't anti-Galway by any means; the Connolly's, Keady, Hayes, Lane, and Joe Cooney were as fine as any county ever produced. I loved those guys, and the way they hurled and carried themselves. It's just that I don't particularly like idle talk. And there's been quite a bit of it over the past four years about/within Galway hurling. In fairness, I haven't heard any idle talk from players or managers in recent years, so I'm not sure what you're referring to there. If it's supporters, there are plenty of those in every county. Most believe this group should have won more than 1 All-Ireland and I'm sure the players think the same. In saying that, they gave us a brilliant year in 2017 and a day I'll never forget. Not to mention an almost endless list of highlights from one of the greatest hurlers to ever do it. Plenty hard work ahead in Galway to get back to competing at the top.
