Despite my love of riling some people on here, at this time I wish all posters and staff at hogan stand the very best wishes in these uncertain times.
We all have loved ones with immune issues. So do as we are asked. And may we all return at end of March safe and healthy

Absolutely have to agree with this...looking at the various soccer games being played behind closed doors is disappointing and ruins the games as an experience to watch..much like I'm gutted that many GAA matches may not be fulfilled, for myself to play in or even attend my inter county teams games...but all of this is simply insignificant compared to what is happening now...it may be a while before normal life returns and we have to put up with bickering of dublin and kerry fans on here and hopefully that day comes sooner rather than later but as stated I sincerely hope all of us here on hoganstand stay safe and hopefully we will be back to discussing super 8s, 2nd tier championships and hurling referees in the not too distant future..until then I hope all of us and our friends and family arnt affected by this

It certainly puts things in prospective. It is o.k. that we use this forum to chat, agree, disagree, share opinions with people we never met as long as we have mutual respect for the people encountered and the subject discussed. I would give an A for meeting that standard. This will pass and hopefully we will come out a better society. There is nothing like crisis and challenge to humble you.

That's right, your little lad was born prematurely was he royaldunne?

IV a nephew with cystic fibrosis but he's as strong as a horse thank god but we'd be used to keeping hands clean around him since he was a baby.

I didn't know that...all the best to your young lad.
I don't think anyone I've met is worried about themselves but we all have loved ones who are vulnerable...I do believe we will get through this though.

Best of luck to all. We all have elderly relatives, neighbors, and friends. Scary for them as they seem the hardest hit by this virus.

Best of luck to all here, and their loved ones.

I work in an international industry, where we have people from the four corners of the world in the building on any given day. People were panicked when the Covid 19 virus first started spreading, and we've had the usual mayhem of people hoarding canned food, toilet paper, you name it.

Personally, I am not as worried as some, as I am relatively young and healthy, and am not responsible for any very young or elderly relatives. When Ebola came around, we were all much more anxious about the prospect of it reaching Europe.

That said, we should all follow the public health advice issued by the authorities. Yeah, missing the football and hurling is frustrating, but ultimately it will be a few weeks or months without games.

This will pass, but only if we avoid taking stupid risks. The football, cinema, pub etc. will all be there when this thing dies down. I'm hunkering in for some Netflix documentaries that I haven't gotten round to!

Stay safe everyone but more importantly be sensible.

I'm in healthcare and been involved in the implementing of the protocols and managing risk in this locally where i work and am face to face with patients and those close to them all day every day clinically, healthcare is remaining calm, committed, collected and responding instead of reacting at the front line. Panic helps no one.

The reaction of the general public has been alarming, either people not caring and not taking personal precautions seriously or else people just reacting and panicking. What happened yesterday, was the most insane thing i think i have ever seen in Ireland, the government announce restrictions on indoor gatherings and what happens, 1000's of people cram themselves into supermarkets, mauling food and cram themselves into ques for a few hours, then go home to their families. Madness and very irresponsible.

Take the advised personal precautions, simple things make a world of difference, but more importantly use common sense as well.

There's some serial abuse of the red thumb on this thread.

Time to review whether we need that feature.

Yeah. Totally agree. Though if it's to be kept you should have to put a reason why you are red thumbing a post.
