Galway got their second win in as many games in the Leinster senior hurling championship by handing Offaly a 2-26 to 1-18 defeat in Salthill this afternoon.

The points of Aaron Niland and Conor Whelan helped the Tribesmen to hold a 0-13 to 0-10 lead at the halfway stage, with Niland, Cathal Mannion and Padriac Mannion stretching their advantage to seven points within eight minutes of the resumption.

Adam Screeney (0-8) led the way in the scoring stakes of the visitors, but even Oisin Kelly’s goal would only serve as consolation as majors at the other end from Conor Cooney and Rory Burke secured what was a comfortable win for Micheál Donoghue’s charges in the end.

Meanwhile, Dublin recorded their first win of this year’s Bob O’Keeffe Cup race by seeing off Kildare on a 3-24 to 1-19 scoreline.

The Lilywhites made a decent start at Parnell Park through the scores of Jack Sheridan and Daire Guerin, but Fergal Whitely’s goal got the capital men into gear and they’d hit nine unanswered points to close out the first-half and lead by 1-15 to 0-9 at the break.

Whitely grabbed his second goal 10 minutes into the second-half and Dara Purcell would net four minutes later as the capital men went on to win by 11 points.
