Naomh Mairtin booked their place in the semi-finals of the Louth senior football championship last night (Saturday) by recording a 1-16 to 0-12 win over St Patrick’s in Darver.
Afte last weekend’s 1-16 apiece draw between the teams, Evan Whelan’s goal after 13 minutes put the victors here into a 1-2 to 0-1 lead ahead of Jack Murphy and Louth star Sam Mulroy firing over two-pointers.
Marty McEneaney sailed over a two-point free ahead of St Patrick’s Jack Murphy landing a free that made it a one-point game. Mulroy grabbed another two-pointer and Eoin O’Connor erased with one at the other end to leave the scoreboard reading 1-6 to 0-8 at half-time.

Lenoard Gray squared the sides early in the restart ahead of last year’s runners up getting motoring again, replying with a two-pointer and then white flags via Mulroy, Wayne Campbell and Sean Healy to move five points clear.
McEneaney’s sent over a free from beyond the arc in response, but Naomh Mairtin saw out this quarter-final replay victory with points from Darragh Dorian, Eoghan Callaghan and talisman Mulroy (2) down the home stretch.
Mattie Rice’s side now await the winners of this evening’s quarter-final showdown between Dundalk Gaels and St Fechins (7.30pm) in the last four.
