Fermanagh manager Kieran Donnelly is calling on Croke Park to scratch Leitrim’s results to date in Division 3 of the Allianz League in ‘the interests of fairness’.

His call comes after Leitrim were forced to concede a walkover to their neighbours last Sunday due to injuries and the unavailability of their U20 players. With Fermanagh still having an outside chance of promotion, Donnelly is calling for the scoring difference in Leitrim’s five previous games to be ignored.

Despite having only seven points, the Erne County can still be promoted if they beat Laois, Antrim beat Kildare and Offaly defeat Clare in the last round.

“In order for us to qualify, we need Antrim to beat Kildare and Offaly to beat Clare and if we beat Laois we would go up as we would be ahead of Clare and Kildare by a point,” he told the Impartial Reporter.

“I think Offaly are in a good place anyway and Clare would need to beat them by 13 points to overtake them which looks unlikely.

“But the big one for us, is Antrim beating Kildare and the beauty of the League and there is nothing between the teams and Antrim could have beaten Laois.”
