Naas CBS’s quest for a four-in-a-row of Leinster Post Primary Schools Senior ‘A’ Football Championships was ended by Kildare rivals Ardscoil na Trionoide, Athy yesterday.

Naas have dominated the competition, winning it five times in the last seven years, but there will be a new name on the Br Bosco Cup in 2025 following this 1-3 to 0-13 defeat. Playing on their home pitch of Geraldine Park, Athy never looked back after scores from Colm Moran and Evan Doogue helped them to a commanding 0-8 to 0-1 half-time lead.

Liam Kenny netted for Naas after the restart, but they couldn’t find a way past Athy ‘keeper Oisín Grufferty again as Ardscoil na Trionoide marched on to the semi-finals in the New Year with plenty to spare.
