Adam Screeney has refused to be drawn on criticism he received for missing Offaly's All-Ireland SHC Preliminary quarter-final against Cork due to a pre-arranged holiday.

Former Offaly sharpshooter Brian Carroll questioned Screeney's decision not to stay at home for the game against the eventual All-Ireland runners-up earlier this summer, despite the Kilcormac/Killoughey starlet's huge contribution to the Faithful County's All-Ireland U20HC and Joe McDonagh Cup successes over the preceding weeks.

“I suppose it’s in the past now, it’s over," Screeney said at this week's Leinster GAA Beko Club Champion launch.

"But, on Brian Carroll, Brian was a legend of Offaly before, wore the Offaly jersey for many years and he's entitled to his opinion and I’ve the utmost respect for that man the way he has carried his career with Offaly and I’d be delighted if I have a career like he had with Offaly."
