Poc Fada winner Fionan Mackessy

Kerry hurler Fionán Mackessy won his second successive M Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada title in the Cooley Mountains yesterday.

Mackessy, who now plays his club hurling in Kilkenny with O'Loughlin Gaels, finished two pucks ahead of 2021 champion Colin Ryan from Limerick in terrible conditions on the Annaverna Mountain.

Offaly centre back and two-time winner Cillian Kiely was third, with the Clare All-Ireland SHC winning pair of Peter Duggan and David Fitzgerald finishing eighth and 11th respectively.
