David Reidy’s second-half goal proved the difference as Clare kept their survival hopes in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League alive with a 1-21 to 0-21 victory over Limerick at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
The All-Ireland champions came into this one off the back of three consecutive defeats, but a strong start to the first-half saw points from David Fitzgerald (2), Aidan McCarthy and Jack O’Neill moving them towards a deserved 0-12 to 0-8 half-time lead.
Limerick made an electric start to the second-half, as Cian Lynch and Shane O’Brien shot points that helped them move in front, but they’d be wiped out by this Reidy goal (watch it below) which was set-up by Mark Rodgers.
From there, Brian Lohan’s men went out to a four-point lead again, with Tony Kelly and McCarthy helping to extend it to six before the Treaty men saw Diarmaid Byrnes red carded in the closing stages as they finished with 14 men and three points short in the end.
