Cedral St Conleth’s Park has been handed over to Kildare GAA by the Elliott Group following its redevelopment.

It follows the completion of works on the new 3,000-seat stand and the installation of underground irrigation piping. The new stand will have dressing rooms, officials' changing rooms, a Club Kildare Lounge, multi-purpose rooms and shops.

Costing €17.5 million, the redevelopment forced the Kildare footballers to play their ‘home’ games at neutral venues, while last year’s county football finals were played at Netwatch Cullen Park in neighbouring Carlow. This year's SFC final is set to return to the Newbridge venue on Sunday, October 27.

The new-look St Conleth's Park has a capacity of 15,000.

“Kildare GAA is a proud football and hurling county and now we have a state-of-the-art stadium here that everybody in the GAA world, and the county and the community, can take pride in. It's crucial to us that we have a home worthy of Kildare GAA,” Kildare GAA chairman Mick Gorman said.

“We now have a venue that our teams can call home and feel happy that they can thrive and prepare and perform at home across all codes. But also that ever club player in the county can aspire to play in these facilities."
