Based on first round results you could jump to conclusion that Trim are way out in front. Trounced Kiltale but they look very poor, could be on the way down to Group B for 2024.
Wouldn't be writing off Kildalkey or Ratoath just yet. Both have plenty of quality young players that can match Trim. Ratoath without a manager up until a month ago and also lads back from travelling. Kildalkey also blooding a lot of younger players which is good to see.
Clann na Gael a good start in Group B. A club on the up. Kilmessan if they get some of their players back might make a push.
Intermediate I had fancied Rathmolyon but it is very tight in Group A. Think Kildalkey will have a say in this. Their team look very strong and with a third team to bolster. Would be great to see Kilskyre make a push with their county lads and some hardened campaigners.

Replying To RR: "Trim v Kiltale: Trim by four after a tight enough game. Kilmessan v Clann na Gael: Think Clann na Gael are looking fairly good so them by 1. Drumree v Navan : Drumree have enough experienced lads to see this one out. Drumree by 2 Rathmolyan v Boardsmill : Rathmolyon should be winning this and in reality, the intermediate championship. Rathmolyon by 4
Saturday
Ratoath V Killyon: Cóin flíp, but going for Kiltale.
Kildalkey v Na Fianna: Not too sure what to make of Kildalkey so far, but still fancy them to get out by 4 Dunboyne v Longwood: Easiest one to call for the weekend. Dunboyne by 10.
Blackhall V Dunderry: Blackhall by 2 Dunboyne v Kilskyre: Kilskyre looked very poor at times in the league, but that was without the county lads. Should be comfortable here, by 8. Ashbourne v Kilmessan: Ashbourne unlucky in the Div 3 final but Kilmessan beat them handy enough last year. Draw Trim v Wolfe Tones: Tones by 4
Kildalkey v Kells: Giving this to Kildalkey but wouldn't be surprised if Kells smelt an upset" Well, a mixed bag!
SHC Very impressed with Trim, but major questions for Kiltale. Huge statement from Clann na Gael Dunboyne nowhere near as impressive as had been anticipated Blackhall and Ratoath both important wins, Kildalkey as expected.
IHC Kildalkey destruction making me look very foolish with the hope for Kells. Drumree always comfortbale against NOM Boardsmill answering doubters even in defeat.
An absolute disgrace with the Dunboyne situation Ashbourne bottling it and just about escaping with a late free Tones doing enough to get the job done
You'd imagine that the Kilskyre/Ashbourne game next round is just to figure out the top two

There really needs to be a restructuring to this championship within the next two years, There's not a pile of difference between the weakest teams in Senior and the top teams in intermediate and only make sense to cut these from the senior championship, a weaker Dunderry team since last year we're unlucky not to beat Blackhall Gaels at the weekend. Boardsmill gave longwood a 10+ point hammering in the first game of Senior last year after winning the intermediate and unfortunately couldn't keep a full team for the rest of the year. Common sense should prevail and make each championship 8 teams.
SHC Trim Kiltale Kildalkey Ratoath Killyon Na Fianna CNG Kilmessan
Premier IHC Dunboyne Longwood Blackhall Gaels Dunderry Drumree Boardsmill Rathmolyan Kilskyre Moylagh
IHC Navan O Mahonys Wolfe Tones Kells Ashbourne Kildalkey 2nds Trim 2nds Dunboyne 2nds Kilmessan 2nds

Replying To PatrickTopping: "Sorry Leinster Junior. As Dublin do it. Dublin IHC winners play in Leinster Junior" Yes makes sense that way. Its defintily benefical to teams to get a run against teams from outside the county. Trim have definitely moved on up a grade as a result from last year and you can see they learned from it (even though kiltale were poor for their standards).

Think the last team to have a good run was possibly Na Fianna a few years ago and they've progressively improved since.

What manner of eejit decided to put an IHC game -between two first teams no less - the evening of the All-Ireland final?
Every other game seems to be down for the Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning.
Another kick in the face for club hurling.

Kiltale v Ratoath - Unless Kiltale can get a number of their big names back I expect a Ratoath win here Killyon v Kildalkey - A great game here, big local derby and not much between them at the moment, Kildalkey know how to grind out a win and will do it again here Na Fianna v Trim - Na Fianna have the youth to compete with this trim team and probably are better equipped than some teams to challenge them, close game but trim by less than 5. Dunderry v Kilmessan - Kilmessan had their toughest game of the group in the first round, I expect them to win here and the rest of the remaining games in the group stage. Clann na nGael v Dunboyne - dunboyne very poor in the first round, CNG very impressive, CNG win here all day. Longwood v BHG- Very tight game here. Longwood always have the edge on blackhall in recent years and I think this will continue, longwood my the minimum.
Intermediate Hurling Championship
Boardsmill v Drumree - Both teams with good first round wins against tough opposition, Tie of the round, Draw match Kells v Rathmolyon- Rathmolyan need to bounce back here if they have any hopes at winning a title, Rathmolyan win Navan v Kildalkey - Kildalkeys second team very strong, Navan o Mahonys will need to be at their best to beat them, draw Kilmessan v Trim - Because the first team is going well, Trim win Wolfe Tones v Dunboyne - Will dunboyne field? Wolfe tones win either way Kilskyre v Ashbourne- Kilskyre to get their campaign up and running here , Kilskyre by 5-10

SHC Kiltale v Ratoath - tight one, but I expect Kiltale to bounce back. Killyon v Kildalkey - Kildalkey should have the firepower to ease to victory Na Fianna v Trim - Trim
Dunderry v Kilmessan - an early potential relegation decider. Dunderry looked better in defeat last time out Clann na nGael v Dunboyne - another tight one but going with CnaG Longwood v BHG - BDraw
Intermediate Hurling Championship
Boardsmill v Drumree - Drumree Kells v Rathmolyon - Rathmolyon to win easily enough Navan v Kildalkey - Kildalkey by a dozen
Kilmessan v Trim - Kilmessan Wolfe Tones v Dunboyne - is this even going ahead? If so, Tones by 15 Kilskyre v Ashbourne - at this level, team with county players > team without county players. Kilskyre comfortably

Big weekend for any team who lost first rounds, local derbys between the K's in senior A, result could make for interesting group if killyon won, and between Dunderry and Kilmessan in senior B, both needing to win here, Kiltale will need a victory to get the season kick started, another loss would make it difficult in remaining games, dont think Na Fianna have enough power for this Trim team.
Kiltale V Ratoath, Ratoath by 3 Killyon V Kildalkey, Kildalkey by minimum Na Fianna V Trim, Trim by 7
Dunderry V Kilmessan, Kilmessan by 5 CNG V Dunboyne, CNG by 4 Longwood V BHG, BHG by 2
Boardsmill V Drumree, Drumree by 6+ Gael Colmcille V Rathmolyon, Rathmolyon by 10 Navan O Mahoneys V Kildalkey, Kildalkey by 3 Wolfe Tones V Dunboyne, Tones if it happens Kilmessan V Trim, Trim by 2 Kilskyre/Moylagh V Don/Ash, Kilskyre Moylagh by 4
Kildalkey V Drumree, Kildalkey by 1, Kiltale V Killyon, Killyon by 2 St Pats V Ratoath, St Pats

Why were hurling games played in Meath on the evening of the All Ireland Hurling Final? Are there not enough days in the year that this can't be avoided? Not fair on those who wish to attend the All Ireland final and enjoy the day. Again the CCC seem to ignore any form of common sense.

I was playing in one of these fixtures myself and it was a right pain in the hole. Waiting around all day to play at 7.30 on a Sunday on it's own is poor fixture making, but to do it on All Ireland Sunday just shows what the county board think of hurling. What should have happened there was to fix the games for 12 noon so that the teams could head back to their respective clubs/local pubs to watch the final together.

Welcome to club GAA fella, a sunday fixture at 7 is normal enough. Would it have anything to do with your club not providing referee's?
