Is this Kells and Ashbournes biggest problem that they peak too early? UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 403 - 22/02/2023 12:40:29 2459757 Link 0 |
If Ratoath have a dip this year I would be backing Summerhill as clear 2nd favs.

I think Ashbourne are missing a few lads. A few gone travelling recently. But they have some good young lads coming through from the Under 20 team that won the championship last year. Surprised they have nobody on Meath under 20's having won the championship last year. The Kells lads have a lot of miles on the clock at this stage. Have they any good young lads coming through.

Predictions for Kells vs Ashbourne? Northmeath1993 (Meath) - Posts: 51 - 27/02/2023 15:23:57 2460709 Link 0 |
Ashbourne by about 4 or 5 points. They've look fairly decent so far, have a nice blend of youth and experience and in my opinion are the 3rd best team in the county behind Ratoath and Summerhill.

Ashbourne are slight favourites for me, having Menton available is a big plus for them and could be the difference but as we all know Kells on their day are different animal than most when they play with manic intensity UsernameInvalid (Meath) - Posts: 403 - 27/02/2023 17:00:56 2460767 Link 0 |
That's crazy talk, what have they done to deserve that tag always flatter to deceive biggest under achievers with colmcilles

What does anyone do to deserve 'The Tag' of 2rd best team in the county??? Its hardly a badge of honor. I'm basing it off the players they have available, what I've seen so far and how I view the other teams in the county. Wolfe Tones probably level with them but I think Ashbourne have the better overall squad and place them slightly ahead of them this year. An opinion that could well change next year depending on performances. But you're question was who would win between them and Kells and I stand by my choice, Ashbourne by 4 or 5.

Looking at the Gaeil Colmcille team from semi final, I would hazard a guess that they have only three lads over the age of 30. Adam Muldoon and Courtney were on county U20 panel in 2020, Donnelly is same age as them and Jordan Muldoon Id say year is older. Ferguson same age as Eamonn Wallace 28? Fionn Reilly and James Reilly younger than him. Tormey and Earley are under 20 so you might want to check their age profile again.

I've never laughed as hard. I'd go as far to say Ashbourne aren't in the top 8 in the county nevermind top 3. Only reason they are in feis cup final is they are probably the only team not missing players throughout.

Agreed, no marquee scoring forward to give teams anything to worry about, no man marker to be able to stop other teams main scoring forwards especially with the McGoverns gone travelling they've a good midfield with Cully and Menton but in modern game where only 1 in every 3/4 are out long it's not much use good young players in Micheal O'Sullivan, Jamie Browne, Evan Quinn few others from the u20 winning but they are years behind the likes of Ratoath, Summerhill, Wolfe Tones, Kells, Even Dunboyne with a full team they don't have the steel teams like Kells and Wolfe tones have where there hard work discipline and attitude will get them through games and don't have the players of Summerhill or Ratoath they lack all of this to be talked about winning anything serious

I was looking through the Ashbourne team that played last night. They didnt have half their starting team. They following were missing for some reason, Andy Colgan, Sean Curran, Shane Melia, Conor Carton, Deegan, the 2 McGoverns (I think they are gone travelling). They did well to get within a goal of a strong Kells team with that team.

2 of the players you named there are 3 stone overweight and exactly Ashbournes issue, Kells were down 3 starters in Oisin Reilly, Barry "Cuda" Tormey and Martin Barrett who all started for them in the senior final if you think Ashbourne are a top 5 team in county you're either delusional, don't get to enough senior games or a Dub supporting there locals

I never said Ashbourne were a top 5 team, I am not a dub and I am not from Ashbourne. Just pointing out that they had a very young inexperienced team out last night, missing 8 or 9 starters.
