How could I be bitter, My club won a senior championship in 2021 I've no affiliation to either club Ashbourne nor Gaeil colmcille but I would definitely prefer to see Kells, Skryne, Summerhill more traditional clubs do better than Dunboyne, Ratoath, Ashbourne as I find them hard their supporters a hard listen not so much ratoath but the other two definitely this my view and it won't be changed

Hard listen in terms of what they're saying or in terms of their accent. There is absolutely a clear divide between the new population centres and the traditional clubs in Meath. But the reality is we need both to be producing players for Meath to do well. I've used the example before but the 2018 minors with only 1 starter from Dunboyne/Ratoath/Ashbourne/Colmcilles won Leinster and the 2021 minors with almost half the team from those clubs won Leinster and the all Ireland and I enjoyed supporting both teams equally. Sure club rivalry exists. But it has to be parked when those players start playing for Meath

I never really got this whole "More traditional clubs" thing??? What makes the likes of Skryne, Summerhill or Kells any more traditional than Dunboyne Ashbourne or Ratoath?? Dunboyne was founded 1902 Ratoath was founded 1903 Skryne was founded 1906-07 Don/Ash was founded 1923 Kells was founded 1964 Summerhill was founded early 1900's' So the majority of these 'non-traditional teams were actually around first. I understand the comment about some of the fans, theres some from my own club I find embarrassing on the sideline, but the same can easily be said about some of the fans from the likes of Kells or Navan O Mahoneys. In a game a few years back our Keeper was called a 'Dublin **** and hes from Monaghan so theres abuse being given just for the sake of it. Not sure of the Kells player ages but my count is that there are 6 who are 30 this year or older from the feis cup final team, I remember playing against a good few of them 8-10 years ago.

What an absolutely ridiculous comment. How are Kells Skyrne Summerhill etc "more traditional clubs" than Dunboyne Ashbourne Ratoath exactly? What do they do or have they done to make them more "traditional" Is that code for the "traditional clubs" are further away from Dublin? Good question Blackspot. The ironic thing is that people in North Meath dislike the Meath border clubs because they come from areas populated with a lot of Dubs. The vast majority of the senior players in these border clubs are sons of parents from counties other than Dublin. They don't support the Dubs, in fact quite the opposite because they have had to listen to Dubs supporters in their areas over the past 10 years, which is tough. So it is time for some of these North Meath "supporters" to get the chip off the shoulder and support all Meath players regardless of what club they play for.

Thats a fairly accurate view on the present standings, a couple of years ago navan o mahoneys would have been in the top 6 , interesting year ahead for them, , I think seneschalstown will recover lost ground pretty soon, moynalvey are in a spot of bother, and curragha in fairness doing well considering limited number of quality players available
