Well Stillaroyal,in fairness Royaldunne is definitely a half glass full person and I say fair play to him.I hope he is right that we win by 5 points.I think it will be a very close game Cork have a couple of lads injured as do we and both are desperately trying to kick start their season. I'd take a one point win gladly but think this could go either way.Cork put up a big score v Galway so their forward line has confidence but our score rate is pretty low.Heres hoping we click on Sunday.

More nonsense talk. If it was Donal Keogan who was going away, would people have been saying that he shouldn't be playing before he goes? No they wouldn't. You play the best players available to you at the time and don't be worrying about who will or wont be there in two or three months time. You can't predict what can happen in a weeks time, never mind a month or two months. Shane has his limits as footballer, but if people took away there agenda's they would see he has been one of Meath's most consistent performers over the past few years and is a captain for reason, not because he is the managers son, as some would like to believe.

So are you seriously suggesting that a club wouldn't play a starting player in the first half of a season, because they won't be there for the 2nd half of the season? I'd like to see how this would go down with someone. Not very well I would imagine.

Reading my post back it actually read quite rude. That wasn't my intention. So apologies for that.
Look it's not based on anything concrete at all, just more a hope that the extra week will have brought on the team, and hopefully some confidence up front, also I do think cork defense is not that strong. So I'm hoping based on all that we kickstart our season. Again apologies if my response seemed rude.

You'd identify a plan based on your time frame.building it up to when you'd start your championship.so your team would be a building process, trying different shapes systems.on this. players would be getting educating to it.so a player would need gametime to get it embedded in his head.this is county football your plan must be about who will finish the year out.using him as sub id have been ok with.but look we are 5 years in now with us goin backwards.im not a fan of mcentee ill freely admit.but its pure rubbish Whats goin on.

Thanks RD, I hadn't taken it to be rude - have seen a lot ruder here and elsewhere.

Agreed on the sentiments - another really important one this weekend.

First of all, it's not Donal keoghan we are talking about and secondly Shane McEntee is nowhere near the level of Keoghan. Perhaps he wouldn't even commit to the year with Meath if he knew he were leaving prior to the championship. We should be building to improve as the year goes on and incrementally getting more important. Another poor decision by Andy in my opinion when valuable experience could be given to a player needed in that position for the rest of the year.

I've seen some low comments on this forum over the years. But this takes the biscuit . Disgraceful

Cork missing a couple of their best defenders, however, Meath have averaged only nine scores per game and will need to up that quite a bit of we are to claim the points. Need to vary our game and get away from the football equivelent of pass the parcel thats bogged us down in last four games. TG4 showing delayed coverage at 5.30, hopefully its something we want to see.

Only stating facts. The way the team has been selected is not up to standard. Preferences shown are not ok. Question over what the point of selectors is.

We can all see that players never in form are picked often . We can see players brought on too late who are far better than starters. We can see how players do in the club championship. It is in our face than relationship with the management is the main criteria for selection. Finally we can see the result.

Best wishes to Andy and the lads tomorrow for what is the Proverbial Relegation 6 pointer! Incredibly nervous bout this one.

I see my flag outside is drenched and limp and unfortunately I think this sums up this Meath team. Don't forget Cork were All Ireland Champs only in 2010 so this will be a tough test for the lads. Cork by 5.

And maybe we should pull out of Tailteann Cup if we find ourselves in it. Give all resources to the Hurlers and Underage and try nurture the Green shoots that are appearing.

Anyways I'll be there cheering on with my limp flag! Hon the Royal!

Hurlers get too much as it is.

Thank goodness. Finally a win. One swallow does a summer not make though. Must keep momentum going now regardless of if we safe or not. Beat Clare then beat Derry

Turns out you were correct this time with the optimistic prediction. Players much more up for it today.

Good win against a poor Cork side. Thought Ronan Jones was brilliant in midfield, constance nuisance. Tackling in general very good. And nice to see a few good kick passes. We struggle to play with a breeze.

Very concerned about defence.

Forward play much better but still too much ball watching and not enough support play to move forward at pace when in possession.Costello and Walsh in particular need to show what they are capable of.

Haha. Lucky guess.
Yeah players much more focused tackled very hard and kept going. Menton and jones add a bit of spine to the team. Walsh probably had his best game for Meath. Keoghan was back to his best. James mcentee was excellent when he came on. Cos best match this year, Morris worked well, Costello a v good game. Scully I thought worked his socks off. Gk situation is finally settled. All in all I think we are now safe looking at remaining fixtures. It's about finishing off well now for the championship. Still not perfect by any means but at least we steadied the ship albeit against a very poor cork team.

Fair play to you RD with that prediction, I really couldn't see us scoring 18 points with 13 from play. I know it was against fellow strugglers but maybe a bit of form is developing at last and Clare could now be vulnerable. Derry drew with Roscommon today so they may need points when they visit Navan as Roscommon I believe play Galway the same day it could get very cramped at the top. There are a lot of combinations left yet but today was a major, major win.
