Ratoath, with all the lads available have a great panel. Remember - they were missing McGill, McGowan and both Wallaces were carrying knocks when they faced Tones in the Semi. I think if they won SFC in 2022 the experience of 2019 and having won 2 would stand to them going into Leinster! But of course they have to win Meath first!

Cant imagine too many Outside people looking at this , Would you get double pay for doing Football and Hurling ?
Double the Stress anyway
Maybe someone like Joey Stenson or Stoney Burke would make the Step Up ?"
dual manager not as uncommon or unusual a situation as one might think , although it hasn't been in our own county , but common enough in others
im actually in favour of it....there is quite a crossover and some common sense approach is needed
as to whom...it doesn't really matter, imo...at least its not just following the sheep and its trying something

Indeed, here in Westmeath there has been dual managers. In fact Eamonn Gallagher did it on 2 separate occasions - Killucan / Raharney and Castletown / Malachys I'm fairly sure.

one point i would add , generally about our pre-occupation with Club Managers-(beyond the obvious thing m being we have little or no games to comment on at this time of the year) is , that i feel the debate & spotlight on managers , imo takes a bit of heat away form players & their responsibilities on the one hand...and also Club executives and their expectations .. Too many Clubs out there are under the allusion at the start of the year, that if they get the right manager in..they are Contenders...without really looking or having a mature debate about where there expectations should lie......

Agreed wholeheartedly, realistically there are about 4/5 teams that have a real chance of outright success, being realistic can be hard for a lot of people. Look at our county team, over the last 10 years some peoples expectations have been pure fantasy. Managers need strong support from club committee and solid backroom with positive player attitude. A lot of new managers in will not have these and along with the unrealistic expectations they will be criticised as a result.

I think a McGowan chap, has been a selector for the last five or six years, apart for Davy Byrne's tenure.

Same fella is the CEO of Phoenix Labs. David Brady is a sales rep in the pharmaceutical field.

Did boardsmill not have a dual manager a couple of years ago, Stephen Sheils I think was his name from outside the county too. He got them to the intermediate and junior hurling finals and done pretty well in the group stages of the football giving Ballivor and carnaross a scare.

Be a tough job in longwood , working with very small panels , depending on a few guys to carry you with alot of miles on the clock , a great club but i would think it was hard position to fill.

That David Brady fella must be double jobbing! Anyway all will be sorted in Ratoath at the AGM where the stone-throwing journalist with the poisonous pen is finally expected to take the key administrative position! No more cowardly snipping from the sidelines….surely?
